Actually, that's a photo from Harry Harlow's experiments which ultimately proved the need for physical affection is greater than the need for food. Orphaned baby monkeys were given the choice between a wire-frame "mom" with a bottle of milk, and a terry cloth covered "mom" without food.
They chose the terry cloth "mom."
