yep, apparantly a plane was off course and heading in the area of the White House. The White House was evacuated, the plane diverted, that's all so far.

just heard it wasnt a plane but a "blip" on a radar screen...

IMO, if it was a "false" radar return that was threatening enough to evacuate the White House and scramble two F-16s then it likely was some real UFO that was there. Aliens if you will.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman William Shumann said the emergency had been caused by a "false radar target", and fighters from the US air defence command had found no trace of a plane.

Flocks of birds or atmospheric disturbances might have caused the blip, he said.

"It's one of those electronic gremlins that pops up, but there was no aircraft there," he said.

....or it could have been a UFO.

UFO's ... possibly, but I am pointing more towards the class clown that just needs attention... The US has been at the top of everyones # list lately and they really just needed something that would break the ice... First they said it was a Plane, then a blimp, and now it was a mistake... That is a aweful big bird.... Come on now... The Radar Defense around the White house is something this world has never seen before... Mistake... I don't think so. Either something is really going on... possible intelligence that a terror attach is about to happen and this was used so that they could get everyone out of the white house long enough to slip the Vice pres away, or they are just Crying for attention and needing something to get them out of trouble
