why are human beings try so desperately to create an AI, something that is better than human being? what drives them? why people cut trees and build factories to build machines, humans destroy ozon layer, pollution, but for a machine it doesn't matter, do you think it's again an evolution and some day we'll just give way to the better more perfect beings such as machines? if yes, if we extinct just at the time as the machines start to "realize the world" won't machines think of us as of their gods? the ones who created them? isn't there a possibility that something gave us a born and extict or left the earth?

I don't think man's quest for making a true AI has ever been an attempt to one-up himself. Rather its to create devices that can react to situations and their enviroment with less aid and direction from man. Computers and machinery with computerized components replace man only in the sense of menial tasks or tasks deemed too dangerous for man to perform himself. Making a true AI will be complementary to this goal.

...Yeah, it's *always* been dangerous when man thinks for himself...Better to let an AI do that for him...

What scares me more than the possibility of a rogue AI is mankind tinkering with his own genetics...Who knows what horrors man may unleash upon himself, even with the best of intentions? Like it or not, gengineering is mankind's next step in evolution...
