Im sure most of us here have the low-down on DU, but heres a short flash movie that would hit home with anybody.

I must be shallow. I see little difference in the various ways we kill each other and screw the place up for others.

Land mines, DU, cluster bombs, radiation. Who cares, it only happens to poor people, far away.

(that was sarcasm, in case you missed it in that last bit)

Yeah I think we should just negotiate with all our enemies and see what it is they want from us.

They are all reasonable people so lets make a deal with them.

Why have an army or why fight for anything.

Everyone is reasonable in this world and we must expect that if I have two loaves of bread that they will be happy if I give them one.

But what happens if the take both and then I have none......?

This is beyond Hiroshima or nuclear bombs (literal sense)

The effects are a perminent DNA damage to the inflicted societies.

This also lends to the concern of cross-generational effects...100 years from now and beyond, un-affected peoples will be having babies with effected peoples, thru marriage or what-not, and there will be less and less 'clean' dna to go around...In other words ...who your decendants decide to have babies with in the future, may determine the ending of your particular branch in your family tree, and as populations travel and disperse to other countries, it will be harder and harder to select that 'right' mate for your family name.

Strange, that scenerio kinda sounds like a problem that the greys are rumored to have. And it also made me think about John Titor, suppossed from 2036, who claimed he thought aliens were time/inter- dimensional beings, with a sophisticated gravitational distorter.

Very few things, and I mean very few things really get to me. But watching that has almost brought tears to my eyes... and not only is this happening over seas in these wars, but 67%..... 67 #ing percent of Gulf veterians have babies with some sort of birth defect. I stand by my country and love being where I am, but watching that definately brings some hostile thoughts to my head. I have heard that they are going to stop using it and start using a new metal put out by LiquidMetal that is just as hard as DU. They really need to get on the ball with this because war is one thing, but long term affects and birth mutations are not something I support... No matter the situation

okay... I know what's going to happen when I post this... but...

the first thing that came to my mind when viewing was, how can you be positive that it's all the US's fault.

To this day I believe that Saddam used chems on his people and ours in 90-91 and again this time.
for the other countries.. it probably was the US.

okay... let's hear it. I guess I just tend to believe that we ( the US ) wouldn't do something like that. I'm probably wrong, but hey, I'm entitled to my opinion.

Th UK also uses DU shells. We are all guilty.

Sucks to be on the recieving end of a Mike1Aplha2 Abrams Main Battle Tank. How about "they" (whoever they are) just don't piss of the United States of America so we don't have to use are weapons against them? A couple billion years of deformed children is a high price to pay to disagree with the USA don't ya think? So to avoid being shot at by Depleted Uranium shells just don't piss America off and stay outta their way

What are you talking about??I'm sorry to ask this but do you really feel the way you wrote? DU goes beyond those Iraqis, it affects US-soldiers too when they come back from Iraq and start making babies at home and their genes are f***** up with exposure to DU.

And do you really think that everyone should be bombed if they don't agree with US? That sounds JUST like the muslim extremists who makes terror attacks against infidels. A big part of the world doesn't agree with US so in the future you would have very little 'friends' left with that attitude.

Sometime the US doesn't care if a country disagrees. But sometimes it does............... Also You get to choose your job in the U.S. army. you don't have to choose 19k which is US armor crewman. The soldeirs who come into contact with depleted uranium shells chose to. Hey Webdevil George Bush didn't create the Abrams main battle tank. If you must blame someone for the tank blame General Abrams since we named the tank after him or you could blame Americas will to have the best weapon systems in the world through which we can defeat our enemies. The first M1 Abrams tank was produced in 1978 way before George stepped on the national defense scene.
