Yeah, I saw a poll yesterday where it said that 60% of British viewers think that Bush is really bad for world peace. I wonder what the stats are like in the US.

World peace, what's that?

World peace at any cost?

Would world peace make a safer world?

What about what's out there?

Why cry peace when you never had a gun in your hand.

What is everyone afraid of... dying?

They got you..I see, your desire for mortality.

I don't venture much in to this forum too much, but I want to ask some questions

In regards to the first flash presentation, how do you propose the TV networks show the names of all the fallen soldiers over there? Do Americans really want to see the names and ages of all the fallen soldiers that were involved?

Also do you think the news stations will ever show the human cusualties of war and the events after.. I mean dead bodies, burned and maimed, and the survivors who are also severely injured.

Realisticly, I don't think many would want to see those things, and it shouldn't be thrown in your face like those flash presentations. I acknowledge the effects of war.. I, and probably many others know what war intails.

I just find material like that sensationalized. Couldn't the same message be conveyed by different means?

greenKool,

could be but maybe it is just socialists that scare me these days.

actually I could deal more with energy sucking aliens that want to enslave us and manipulate our bodies.

that makes more sense to me that what passes for socialism and its long term plan of enslavement for all humans.

They show that in other countries. They seemed to have no problem splashing the names of those that dies in the WTC and pentagon everywhere. Why not the names of those that died preserving freedom.

I'm aware of cultural differences.. I mean day in and day out names of the latest fallen soldiers and newest missions in televised in American news stations would get stale and boring. Gory bodies shown on TV..even on cable channels they give a disclaimer warning viewers of the content and even then they sometimes make the gory parts black and white to lessen the impact on "sensitive" viewers

It would be interesting to see a war IN America.. then I would understand why the news broadcasters would want to stay on top of the latest events.

Well they say everyday 3 killed here and 2 killed here, I don't see how posting their names would make it that much more boring.

I guess seeing "PFC. Someones Son, 19" would make things a little too personal.

The US declared war on Iraq, the Iraqis have to look at the effects of that war everyday, shouldn't the Americans also see the effects.

That is of course if it doesn't interfere with who is getting voted out of the house on their "Reality" Television show.

Okay if it is a matter of details. As far as reporting names, you would have to ask the news agencies why they don't. Do you really need to announce that "so and so from this company" and "so and so from this division" were killed in action today at whatever event? Another good question to ask the news agencies I suppose.

They are all good questions.. I am guessing that the Americans that do wish to know more could hop on the net and find something for themselves, but then you could also argue that Americans should have an outlet to seek information on the latest events over in Iraq and even Afghanistain, but you could also ask, Does the majority of Americans want it? Do they need require the information everyday? Does the news shows and slots need to constantly report on that one event?

I don't anyone here has those answers. Sure we have strong opinions as to what we wish to happen or see, but in reality how feasible are all those requests? I believe at the end it is just a matter of opinion of one's wishes in the matter.

The reason they don't release names is they must do the following:

positively identify the body,

investigate why the person was killed,

notify next of kin,

make preparations for funerals et all.

if a mistake is made eg. misidentification, then consider the ramifications.

only you and maybe all the lefties against this war want this and for all the wrong reasons.

part of your campaign to have it shut down that is all,

admit it then maybe I will have even a sliver of respect for you.

Of course, I wouldn't even pretend that it isn't.

And not for the wrong reasons. I want the Americans to see what war is all about. It is easy for them to be complacent when they are sitting in their easy chairs watching Friends stuffing their faces with fast food.

Maybe if they could see what the American soldiers are endring and the effect the war is having on the Iraqi populace they might get off their asses and actually form an opinion on something rather than just going with the flow.

Saddam was a tyrant, he got what he deserved... But the error that the USA has done is to get there alone without UN and NATO. They haven't get Saddam or Osama...

Sure they do...but only those of the enemy...

Remember the road to Baghdad in GW I???

Showing the same of your boys is bad for morale...this was a press lesson learned during Nam....

What makes anyone think that average americans don't know what is going on or why the war or the real benefit or cost to their country.

Is everyone trying to tell them they are stupid?

Maybe you don't know why there is a war or you are afraid of dying or you are nieve and think that you can negotiate your way out of anything with anyone.

Don't project your values or beliefs onto others.

Americans are trying to preserve the strength of their country and you are trying to bring it down,

so that socialistic globalists can make everything nice and comfy for everyone,

but who are they really working for and what do they really want to do with us?

ask yourself that, can you trust them?

I will trust Bush any day before I will trust them.
