You missed my point. In 100 years what is happening today will be insgnificant in history, it won't matter one iota.
I don't hvae my head in the sand, I just can't be bothered endlessy going back and forth with absolutely no headway being made from wither sides.
As for not being here in 100 years, I beg to differ with advances in genetics and the increasing life expectance of people, being around in 100 years is more likely than not.
So maybe I will look back at the beginning of the 22nd century to this one and shake my head and chuckle about how backward we are today

Iran signed just such an agreement. They signed an international agreement to receive western nuclear technology and expertise, to build cheap, affordable, clean, nuclear power, and permit the international community to have complete and open access to these programmes, and to never, ever, for all eternity, develop weapons.

Ahmadinejad is that guy. Do you really want that guy in charge of a supposedly civilian nuclear programme? Would you be the least bit supiscious if he wasn't letting anyone inspect that nuclear programme? And at the same time was telling the sinners they're going to be punished, 'real soon'?

How about that moral agreement made between nations that one shall never go to war with one another unless directly threatened or in imminent danger?

the media is always trying to put down some country that USA wants to attack, it makes me sick. I had a discussion with my friend saying Iran is researching hard water for their nuclear weapon program... these people need to learn how to educate themselves i cant stand it anymore.

Canada's power plans plutonium cant even be used in a nuclear weapon why don't countries use our technology.. doesnt make sense...

So failure by a person to produce proof of Irans nuclear weapons plans requires compulsory acknowlegdement of that persons own irrational fears? Utter rubbish.

I think Nygdan, and many others have clearly illustrated the many reasons that it is not irrational to have grave concerns regarding Iran's leadership's intentions. And not only in regard to nuclear weapons.

I think an importan question we need to ask here is HOW does Iran profit from going into a nuclear war with the US or Israel? And the answer is quite simply that they don't. They are, quite simply, no match for the big guns. The media would have you believe that this guy is intending to send his country back into the stone age (from retaliation bombing) by picking on the biggest bullys in the schoolyard...

Some extreme religious groups would probably welcome this war because it fits with their understanding of holy war etc. but NO government in the world would ever dream of going to war with two nuclear superpowers! We already learned this lesson during the cold war. If one country launch missiles, the others will follow, and just about everybody dies...

The reason "civilized" countries like the US is going to war with ME countries like Iran is NOT for the greater good of mankind, but for their own selfish, greedy reasons. Look at Saudi Arabia. They are one of the most extreme countries in the ME where women are treated like crap and have no rights, abuse is the standard, and some seriously screwed up religious fanatics are in control. Hey, if I remember right the 9/11 hijackers were mostly from SA too, so you'd think that would be the place to start, right? Does the US attack SA? Noooo, you buy oil from them and help them invest that money back into the US. The Binladen family has been shown to have connections with the Bush family!

I say, let them have their nuclear technology, and let's help them develop it in a safe and responsible manner. I'm sure Iran will cooperate fully with the IAEA once the US stops harrassing them and manipulating the security council. No country has the right to deny another country technology wheter it be for good or bad...

And if you insist on constantly waging war, there are plenty of countries who desperately need help in Africa! Go there and fight for freedom and democracy! We DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to tell Iran that they cannot invest in technological research simply because it could be abused. I could go out right now and kill someone with a car. Does that mean I should have my driver's license revoked?

If someone has a drivers license and they are out of control, drunk, or mouthing off and say that they are going to drive that car into a crowded school yard full of children then the drivers license should be taken away. Considering the leader of Iran, his instability, his past ... he doesn't deserve to be at the helm of a nuclear nation.

We've had nuclear weapons for decades upon decades. They were only used twice - to end a war that was started against us by Japan. I am absolutely sure that if Iran had nukes they wouldn't hold on to them for even a month without using them ... let alone decades upon decades.

True. They do not profit and cannot succeed in a war w/ the US.

However, they need not wage war as a state. Once they posess the fissile mass of uranium/plutonium needed, they simply supply it to Al Queda, Hammas, Hezballah, Islamic Jihad, etc.. You can learn how to build a nuclear device on the internet. The ingredient needed by these organizations is fissile material. And fissile material from an operation that has not been under UN observation will not be traceable via isotope signature once detected...either by surveilence, or Allah forbid.... detonation.
