Congratulations! It'll work - for the negromaniacs as well.

That light options is MY DEFAULT, belonging to one of the slightly disabled usergroups.

Just a few things that I suppose wil be adjusted.

1. The background color of quoting panes.
Too dark. Obviously it's a grey38-40 - is there alittle thistle in it? - try light it up at least to a grey 49-50.

2. The color of URL's on the page.
White is not an option, when in panes, like 'ex', where it's displayed upon white too. Go back to the barollo red you had, maybe lit it up a bit, and turn to black when touched.

Over All! Good work Skeptic, you keep a track on which setting dark/light will be the more chosen. Let us know now and then.

Say, see how many prefer 'dark' after three weeks of use. Post the percentage, please.

OK,

So Now this is the thread huh??

Only one other tiny little insignificant problem..

The "Customize" new button does not show up on every page...

Specifically the "Rate the Avatar, NEW" thread on my browser, (firefox) I can not "SEE" the page controls unless I highlight it...

Semper

Oh Yeah, and my "You Have U2U's" has been Lit Up for two days...

I have no U2U's...

Just so you know.. LOL

Well, takes time to change the attributes for every page. But I see now you've changed pane backgrounds.

Let me see how they work out.

This pane is the lightest in appeareance it seems. Got a little blueish tient to it - or maybe it is just my eyes

It certainly lighted it up didn't it? Can't tell if my eyes are puzling me, but this seems slightly redish to them old eyes. Not that I mind, I think it would be a good idea to break the pane colors just a little bit

Then there's the news tags, the least used. So that it, as the only one stands out darker than the page, is not liable to cause complains. That it does't have a hard line framing (when I last viewed) might be a subject'

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

Please note, THESE OBSERVATIONS are in the LIGHT MODE.

I just wanted to say that this specific thread is the only thread where I was offered a color choice...and it worked I picked the lightest. Okay, now all the other threads have no choice for me, and they are set on the darkest setting....which I simply can't see, unless I put my glasses on and get right next to the screen. I don't believe this is a cookie problem, and maybe all the options aren't posted... Why can't I choose a setting for each thread...it's not there, this one is light...and all the rest are black.

ATS goes Gothic?
I am trying to be patient...

man oh man,I hope one of the new features is a "thread rating system".It's when members and staff rate threads 1-10 based on quality, sources,& maybe scientific evidence.
It can help us find quality threads, even if they're old threads.

This has been covered elsewhere. I think they even tried it once.

Anyway, I like the lighter quote color for the "light" setting (as seen above as of now). However some text is still black and unreadable, mainly the html tree and header style.

Nice work to the CSS masters and color technician teams at ATS headquarters. You narrowed it down to the right shades of background and provided quick solutions.

Yes, an option would be the luxery of having the togle button on each post.

Now I see Skeptic, you've changed the news BG ...and the fonts! Great...
but now you need to change the ex BG to something little darker... or I dunno... maybe change the font style similiar of that in the news box. Yes, keep the small fonts for the internal quotes only.

This is a great idea and a must. How it should be implemented is the question.

Really?I wonder why they didn't try it before and kept it.

When did they covered this?

We had this more than a year ago... it didn't work out as well as intended... too many people voting up their buddies, and voting down people they disagree with.

I see it now, thank you SO. You moved it? Yesterday it was by the number pages on the thread. Is it set up where we have to choose a color for each page? Just curious....
Thanks again

Now that I've seen the light, I confess that I prefer the dark variety. Though there are some places where bigger contrast would be useful, it's no worse than some people whose user info picture and/or background color obscures their actual data.

The only change in color I feel is a must is the character counter thingy. Now the numbers are very hard to see, IMO those numbers could very well be totally black instead of darker grey on lighter grey.

Overall - I love this.

No. We make a significant effort to ensure that "ATS" is not seen as endorsing any specific topic, theory, or direction of discussion. If only staff were to be providing opinion on our best posts and threads, then our goal would be subverted.

It's up to our members to contribute quality posts to quality threads... in the end, that's simply the best way to get topics that well-constructed and important to our members noticed the most.

The changes are nice, now, I can say that I am very satisfy with the new ATS look.

The administration and specially SO has gone all the way to make the site comfortable for everybody.

I appreciate all that effort.

Thanks.

I was simply trying to point out what I perceived as a difficulty with the New Look. The fact that there is no Light/Dark button on that particular page, and that the Page Number Controls are practically invisible. This was in response to the request for members to contribute their criticisms in a polite way as they discovered them.

I had received no response in the prior effort, and was hoping to receive one to validate my presence. I have tried viewing that particular page on IE, Netscape, Opera and Firefox, with similar results.

I understand this is a vast effort on your part and tremendous use of your time and faculties so I was in no hurry. Just wanted to make sure that that one particular thread was not lost in the effort or a difficulty on my computer alone.

Thank you for your response.

There has been more than one occasion where we've said BTS/PTS changes will happen after ATS is finished... I haven't even touched the specifics of those pages yet.
