Anyone else do this? If not, where are your worldly ambitions taking you? Just curious.

I'm curious what you mean GreatTech, did you drop out of society and live in wilderness, or go to a convent, or something else?

As for your question, I'm not quite sure what a worldly ambition is,
but my goals in life are to improve the world, and make it better
for everyone, and to expand human knowledge.

yep

I had no intention of 'dropping out!'

Never even considered such a thing as either feasible or desirable.

Wasn't up to me, though. That was in 1998. Finally God let me come up for air...about 2 months ago.

This week I am finally AT LONG LAST, for the first time in my life...feeling like I've made the deadline and I don't have to rush any more...

whew...

When did you drop out, GT?

Do you mean totally including job and financial concerns and all that 'real world' stuff?

Did you live on only the word of God for your manna?

Dropping out of the world is not suicide and no one should attempt or commit suicide. Dropping out is realizing the futility of worldly ambitions. The world is highly secular and animalistic, and this is due to rampant sin. I focus on God and Heaven each day and this helps get me through each day. My only goal in Life is to be an Angel of God and worship Him constantly. Anybody else with ambitions to be an Angel of God?

I guess you could say in a way I have. I used to care about things like getting rich and famous and that's all i used to think about, but ever since i recomitted my life to Jesus, i am perfectly content with who i am and what i have.

I still have some worldly ambitions, i love to draw and wish that one day i could become a famous cartoonist, like the guy that created Dragonball Z.

I also have ambitions to be a videogame designer for a famous company.

Then GreatTech, you are doing the wrong thing. Jesus, when he was starting his ministry, walked with the sinner. He ministered to the sinner. He dwelt with sinners. He called upon sinners to work for him. He didn't drop out of the world. He stayed in the world and changed the temperature of the water. Like John wrote in Revelations 3:15, we have to make a difference. GreatTech, I don't believe you have dropped out of the world because you have good testimony with MANY people in this forum. I believe what you are saying is the you have dropped worldly ambitions to take on a bigger ambition for Christ. Am I right? I am looking forward to you post.

My first career was to become a minister. I wanted it very badly. I couldn't picture myself doing anythingelse. Then I got married very young and it didn't work out. I got a divorce. In my denomination I could not be appointed minister. But that doesn't mean a person doesn't have a ministry. I have since worked in an industry for 15yrs. I very recently bought my own franchise. It is everything that I have worked for along time. I would NOT be here without the guidance of God. The very words of the sermon on the mount are a building block to success in any marketing business. In Matthew 5, Jesus told his 12 that they are a city built on a hillside that cannot be hidden. The light of the world. And when a person lights his lamp he doesn't put it under a bushel basket but rather puts it in a high place where everyone can benifit from that light. GreatTech, your testimony is the light of the world. Don't drop out now we are to close to the finish line!

ConstantlyWondering, here's another scripture from the bible I thought I'd add to accompany your's.

John 17:15-18

15:I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16: They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17: Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18: As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.

KJV

I think you have set the correct perspective for life. Serve God first and foremost then tend to any other needs you may have. Anyone who does this will receive great reward in Heaven. For every worldly thing you give up for God He will reward you many times over. And the gifts God gives are much greater than anything that the world has to offer.

Jesus admonished us to seek FIRST the Kingdom of God, then everything else will be added on.

Constantly Wondering, thank you for your comments. I should partially qualify what I wrote in my post: I am devoting more of my time to the worship of God but with certain earthly ties of loving family, friends, neighbors, and strangers remaining. You might say that I formerly devoted 50% of my time to God and 50% of my time to family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. I am now pursuing a plan of devoting 90% of my time to God and 10% of my time to family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. I am a servant of all. I believe that the greater amount of time I devote to serving God the better that I not only serve Him, but also the better that I serve family, friends, neighbors, and strangers.

Best wishes with your franchise and may it help others to believe in God or strengthen their belief in God!!!

God Bless!!!

well, congrats for your choice.
You may be in for some big tests soon, very soon.

For me, my life has just stopped. Just like that. Now, I look around and see death everywhere and the signs that we are all told to look out for.

Nearly 7 weeks ago, I became a hermit. Quit my job, I am in my last year of my degree and didnt go to the exams. There is no point to it. It is merely a distraction, we fill our lives with distractions/purpose and all it does is keep us trapped.

You have been called and now have to wait for instruction from the Lord GOD, just like me.

Halelluia brother! i agree with what you said, i am also a hermit type, and lately i have been feeling unmotivated to do a final paper for one of my college classes,
It's all a distraction, i don't need to worry about anything though remember what Jesus said:

25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek
for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.Matthew 6:26-34

The scriptures say love not the world, or things of the world, for they are the dust in your hand and that is to what they will inevitably return to. Once I understood what that meant, I kept everything in life at a new amount of distance(for it is just dust and i dont love it -- its not the most important) and I devoted my true feelings of love toward things that are not of this Earth, such as God, the souls of the Prophets, the souls of my family & friends, the soul of my girlfriend, etc. I've been on a spiritual ride ever since, that was months ago that I truely opened up to God and started trying to follow his commandments without exceptions.

With that said, I do not think one can semi-comfortably survive and get by on their own, completely alone, in this society without having some means of making money. This is usually done by either having the skills from experience or having the college degree. That simply requires time, money, and effort to obtain .. the degree or the experience, and going thru the trouble sucks. But its neccessary to get by later on in life. We can have our faiths, or ideas, our lifestyles, we can have anything we choose.. correct or incorrect, good or evil, smart or incredibly stupid, you name it we can get it. Those faiths, which say to practice a life of selflessness and non-worldliness are true.. but to what extent you can be selfless or non-worldly varies greatly from individual to individual for all kinds of reasons -- some I don't even know of.

Therefore criticism of others, ie; judgement of others which is reserved for God only, is a very grave sin, one all 3 major monotheistic religons would share as a grave sin. There is an understanding between the 3 on certain matters, but its a minority of the total matters at hand. I wish they'd realize their common root in history (Abraham and his story, Noah & the Flood etc) so that they could stop the killing through such barbaric and vile means and start working towards the return of Jesus, otherwise known as Isa to muslims, otherwise known as the messiah to jews, amen.

I believe you have captured the correct outlook my friend [above emphasis mine]. You may already be an angel.

The world is highly secular and animalistic

In evidence there of I present the characteristics of Canis Lupis The Wolf. I know these
traits from personal experience and prolonged contact with the afore mentioned Lupis.

They are protective of family , loving of family, loving without qualification, open and upfront, They don\'t put on false faces, fronts or airs( they leave no doubt If they don\'t like you),protective, gentle, and caring of their young. They have a strong legal and social system(if one goes bad they are removed permanently from the pack/family/social group).

Given the current state of human society I take it as a great compliment to be associated with the \"animalistic\" behavior stated above.

In hopes of becoming even more a true Loup Garou.

Well some humans act worse than animals....and I don't get what's so bad about being secular. Secular is perfectly fine as long as you are a law abiding citizen.
