Comet 'Honda' to Impact Earth August 2011!

Its a Honda right? So that means even if it did strike it would just be like a little fender bender...

lol well we won't have to worry about any fender benders, the "Honda" got into an accident a while ago and no longer exsists probably hit a "semi" of a planet or somthing

Worth evaluating just how close that Honda will be passing by or if indeed it will strike the Earth (Fast and painless)

Or

Just tear away our atmosphere as it passes... (Potentially slower and painful.)

Either way ... It's reassuring that the Presidential Emergency Alert System should be in place by then so that we'll all be alerted what to do in such an emergency...

Edit to add: Yes I looked at the virtual orrery and I know that it's not to scale but it looks like that Honda does an awfully close drive-by!

According to Cometology.com it will pass 0.06 AU from Earth on 2011 August 15. If 1 AU = 149,597,870.691 kilometers then 0.6 AU = 8,975,872 kilometers from earth.

Seeing as the moon is 384,403 km from earth, that's 23 times further out than the moon. I think we'll be ok.

Seem like NASA is still supplying an orbit diagram for the item in question. Is this customary?

But, NASA has a habit of being confusing. Like current orbit diagrams of asteroids that have already impacted Earth. Like two different orbit diagrams with different names - but, actually, the item has a name and was never stated to be binary.

Question:

How many of these anomalies are you aware of?

I'll even narrow the field down, How many that will come within .1 AU of Fragile Earth before 31-12-2012?

Anyway, Comet Honda will not collide with the earth and even if it did, which it totally won't, at 1.6 km in diameter, it would create local damage wherever it fell, but it's not, you know, the end of the world.

It is interesting that this started years ago. But impact earth?

It'll be 900,000km from earth which is about 3x the distance the moon is from earth, which is close in terms of a comet but nowhere near impacting anything and will get further away till about 2030.

I'd be more worried about travelling on the road tommorrow, far more likely for disaster to occur.

i have to say jedite...if you look up the honda now..it on coarse to almost HIT elenin..and if you look even harder..tyche is following suit....i really think this might be one of those ...ressurected comets.....lol

Haha, I've thought about that before. What if? it's an interesting thought experiment. Would you have any way to know you are dead? Maybe both Honda and Elenin will destroy the planet, but we just keep living as if it never happened.

since we are on this topic theres a prophecy that goes something like this, on the 15th of ramadan there will be a blast that will awaken the asleep and alert the awake, it will cause 3 landslides that will kill many people...

but it does say that the 15th will be on a friday, which is next year(2012) 15th of ramadan will be on a friday. otherwise it wont reoccur till another 30-40 years...

if the friday bit is fabricated then this might be it, otherwise if the whole hadith is fabricated then never mind
