it's entirely possible. and it's not uncommon.

Okay... Well, until I actually see that one, I am leaning towards the answer being "No" as far as it even being possible.

I'd bet $5 that I have the answer-

She is a drama queen and she is intentionally messing with you for attention.

You may say "Oh, she and I are always together, how can it be about attention?". Well, she's female and most likely younger, that means that she can never have enough attention.

If you do this, these episodes will end-

Totally ignore her. Not second look, not a yelp, nothing. She'll try it 3, maybe 4, more times and give up if you don't react.

Trust me.

That's exactly what I thought too. Also - she could just be a person who wakes up and adjusts to being awake slowly.

Seriously .. this is no big deal.

Pardon the spelling,
but I think it is somolence...

Drug Induced sleep walking.

No- I don't think your girl is a druggie-

I mean Ambien or Valium...

Sleeping pills or anxiety pills are HYPNOTICS...

They produced IDENTICAL symptoms as the ones you say-
she may be taking them without you knowing (not uncommon, sorry to say)
or you know and forgot to mention- they are COMMONLY prescribed
when one is quitting smokes...

Trust me- this happened to me- exactly- when I was prescibed them.

Exactly.

Ask her.

Lol... Some hilarious responses to this... I WISH she would put makeup on in her sleep ( I am SO surprised she doesn't already do that). Then I would have something funny to watch every night. lol

And although she is an attention sponge, she isn't faking this one... I don't think she could pull that off...

haha

She does sleep very lightly usually, and tosses and turns and talks in her sleep, sometimes just laughs really loud for no reason, sometimes cries... I guess she is a drama queen, haha

But I'm really not sure what would be causing it...

Also, to answer a few questions, no, we aren't using the patch, we just quit cold turkey. After 11 years of smoking for me. But I'm actually doing pretty well, and aside from canker sores from the $15 in gum a day I'm now eating, and the fact that I can't sleep, OR stop eating, I'm doing alright.

And, FYI for everyone, She isn't sitting up when this happens... Passed out, straight face while asleep, laying down... Then out of nowhere, her eyes open, big, and she stares right at me.,.. Creepy... Also, she is always looking in my general direction, but she doesn't really have to try, as my desk is to the side of the bed...

i don't want to hijack PhreOnBurn's topic, but here ya go.:

Is it possible to be asleep with ones eyes open?

12th July 2001

The simple answer is yes, although generally our eyes close as we fall asleep in order to protect our corneas and do not open again until we re-awake. Open-eyed sleeping is called lagophthalmos and can be linked with a number of different causes and situations. For example, it can be associated with alcohol intoxication, the use of hypnotic drugs, damage to the branch of the facial nerve which supplies the orbicularis oculi muscle, scarring of the eyelids, and metabolic disorders such as thyroid dysfunction (Lyons and McNab, 1990). There is some evidence that open-eyed sleeping can be a family characteristic.

www.nurseminerva.co.uk...

i don't know the details about it, but i do know that it exists. i think my friend may have had this. but i really don't know much about it, so i can't say. all i did was google the info.

It is most likely some sort of waking dream or sleepwalking, lots of people have these including me.

It is possible that her direction of interest is the computer or the area around the computer, maybe her subconcious is picking up on magnetic or electrical current drawing her to you whilst you are in that area during her sleep.

Do you have a wireless internet conection maybe?, or multiple addapters plugged in to the wall? as these have a lot of ambiant energy that the human brain and body is aware of even when the conciousness is not.

Okay, #1, some people do sleep with their eyes open (I do, or at least, that's what I've been told...used to freak my ex-girlfriend out)

#2, she was more than likely sleep-walking (or lucid-dreaming...whatever the correct terminology is)

#3, this totally is not "conspiracy" material, unless in her dreaming state, your girlfriend was performing a ritual sacrifice and trying to summon the alien demon gods of the illuminatti while trying to embezle money from the UN treasury and running guns to an underground child slave trade.

Nothing personal bro.
Just my opinion.

WuKung you did made me laugh but he did put this in the paranormal section of the board, not the NWO or Alien forum. He is asking if this is a normal issue, with the possiblity of a paranormal reason... hence he says doctor OR priest at the end of his post. Lighten up man...

If this were my girlfriend, i'd be concerned too. If I were you (OP), I would find out if she's taking any drugs, or is prescribed any drugs, and cease that activity all together.

This could be she is having sleep difficulties and that's the only reason. Have her take melatonin, this regulates REM sleep and i'm sure it'll help.

I remember once when I was a teenager I opened my eyes when I was half asleep and I saw this aura of an extremely attractive girl floating 3 feet on top of me and looking at me dead in the eyes like "hey there", and my first reaction was to swing and jump up. I made so much commotion, my dad came running downstairs with a gun thinking I was attacking an intruder!! Good thing it turned out the way it did... lol.

I've seen one ghost in my life when I was wide awake, and one time in my life when I was half asleep, but they don't scare me that much (ghosts) "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I fear no evil because I am the baddest mother ****** in the valley" (hahhahah)- and this experience definately could have just been a dream, I don't really care, i'm more pressed on the physical right now. Anytime you are half asleep you have to be open the possibility than any paranormal/alien/etc experience could be mental and not reality.

Is she prone to tricks? She could be just messing with you like the above people have stated... so just do a practical joke back- come home one day with water in your eyes and say "baby I have terminal cancer" Wait... don't do that. Dump her if she is messing with you.

Hope this helps, but no I don't think shes "possessed" by a demon, or worse "TheSonOfMan"

Well, I know someone who had the samething happen to him. His wife rolled over and stared him down. A stare that if it continued more than 30 seconds or so, you would wet your pants kind of stare. He found out that a friend of theirs had commited suicide the night before she started doing this.

just thought that would make you feel better

As for the idea of putting some shades on her and taking pics and having some fun with it.......that is very wicked and a sure way to get painfully castrated. not recomended

cheery-o

by the way, feel your pain with the whole quitting smoking thing. Just quit myself. Nights are a bugger arnt they?

I have actually been wanting to post about something like this for a long time. I have had a similiar experience with my girlfriend. About 6 months ago is when it started. I was sleeping to awaken to my GF talking to someone, like having a conversation. No big deal, right, some people talk in there dreams whatever. But here is the scary part. I asked her who she was speaking to and she said she didnt know, she said this person had VERY pale skin (dead like) Black hair, and bright blue eyes and hair style like those "bowl" cuts. I asked what his name was and she said "Brian" .... no big deal, I thought. It got progressively worse though.

The 2nd "encounter" happened again in her sleep, this time I was awaken by her waking up and walking to the bathroom, I hear her talking in the bathroom, likeshe is speaking with someone. I heard her pop open a bottle of prescription drugs, I came to the bathroom in time just as she was about to put them in her mouth and I took them from her hand. I slapped her to wake her up (literally), she had no idea what happened but told me that Brian told her that it would make everything "Go Away".

Things start to get progressively more and more scary. One night she fell asleep with her pink hair bow in her hair. We both went to sleep and I was awaken by her gasping for air! The hair bow was tied TIGHT around her neck, she couldnt breath, I had to take the bow off her neck by untieng a knot.

She said Brian would appear alot in her dreams and antagonize her. Sometimes she will waken choking and I would find HAND marks around her neck and when I touched her neck to look at the red marks she said it would burn.

One encounter was quite scary, she was literally possesed, she was trying to take some pills on the bed and I took it from her, it wasnt her, it was someone/something else. I asked my GF why are you doing this. Her eyes looked so empty, she said or IT said "I hate her". and I asked why and they said "because she took you from US!" before this I was Atheist but as I converted to Christianity it got much worse.

About 3 weeks ago I was awaken to her as she moaned in pain. I didnt know what was wrong with her, she couldnt talk and I touched her stomach because I thought her stomach was hurting her. She had a big kitchen blade under the blanket she was trying to stab herself, thats why she woke me up. When I took the knife from her, I asked her Why she did it and she started crying and didnt know what happened, she said she didnt remember anything.

I can post a couple more incidents but that is the most scariest one I can think of. I

See I told ya dude, she is possessed.

Figure out who it is who is trying to tell you goodbye or whatever and it will all stop.

As for you smoking gun.....bath that girl in holy water, sleep with a bible, hang a cross over your bed, and set up a motion activated video recorder in the room. Maybe she is possessed, maybe she is mental....thinking it is time you figured out which and did something about it.

Yea my ex did that occasionally. Once she was with me on the sofa and we were watching a DVD. I said something to her and she did not reply. I said something else, no reply. So I looked at her repeated what I said, nothing. Next right up close looking at her in the eyes, said something else, nothing. I thought ignorant cow.

She is staring right at TV, eyes wide open. She had recently had a close thing with death with a pulmonary embolism so the thought that she was dead began to enter my head. I shook her, nothing. Now conviced things were not good I felt her skin it was cool. A pulse was always hard to find on her wrist so I reached out for her neck and in trying for the pulse she moved and wanted to know what the hell I was doing.

She said she was asleep, just dropped off watching the movie. She had no idea that I was talking to her and shaking her. It is a very freaky experience. I still cannot understand how you can be sleeping with your eyes wide open and not see??

As I said it was not a regular occurence but when it happened it was scary.

Not sure if your girlfriend is undertaking the same experience but your story brought this to mind....

SS out

To the first poster- please take my opinion seriously and check for Ambien
or Valium as I am sure this is the deal- hypnotic induced sleepwalking.

To LOMELI590... um, dude- my heart goes out to you... and I am very concerned-
as worried as I can reasonably be for as total stranger...

My man- either you or her is gonna get slashed or killed- no joke.

What you are talking about is full-on demonic possesion- and as a recent atheist,
you may not know, care or believe that idea, but....

Forget faith- common sense suggests that an entity or other type of spirit is trying to get at her... what you described is some of the scariest stuff I have ever read here- and I believe you 100%

You NEED to get a priest in their right away.

You need to get holy water and/or a crucifix, and spinkle it on her and place it the cross on her body WHEN she is in the state of possesion. See how she reacts.
Sorry- see how HE reacts.

I am frankly amazed that you have the courage to sleep in the same bed as her.

I would have been out of there (at least the bedroom) after the first wig out.

Anyway- you need to protect her and yourself. You have to remove all the sharp objects and drugs from the area... She is a real danger to you and herself.

Please tell us more... and by the way- from the nature of that quote (she took you from them) it seems like YOU may be the ultimate target- and they are using her to get to you.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL- PLEASE SAY A PRAYER- PLEASE AS GOD FOR HELP
AND MAYBE WEAR SOME TYPE OF RELIGIOUS MEDAL AROUND YOUR NECK!!!

This happens to me now and then. It is nothing to worry about and certainly nothing to call a priest over (and seriously, why would that even seem to be an option here? oh well).

I have sat up, turned around and stared at my roomate before while talking directly at him. I have no recollection of it besides him describing it to me. I know I actually do do it because he is not the only person to say that I have.

It is a nice little period between being asleep and awake. I am not quite awake yet but not fully asleep.

Like I said, nothing to worry about.

EDIT: After reading that you say she is a light sleeper and even talks in her sleep then I am pretty much convinced that what I described is what is happening to her. Don't worry about it and it is nothing dangerous.

Some of the responses to this thread were...special.

I have browsed through the thread and think I know the answer.

Firstly, you won't need a priest (she isn't possessed by anything but love for you
).
Secondly, a doctor is also not neccessary (if you can communicate with her in a sensitive way).

This type of sleeping behaviour is actually very common. My cousin used to exhibit this behaviour when he was younger and when his mum took him to a doctor he told her.
Basically, she is sleepwalking. Except there's no walking.
When people sleepwalk, they seem awake but they are entirely unconscious - as is your girlfriend. She looks awake, she can interact with you (respond to questions, see you, and could even walk towards you if she had to).

If this is the first you've seen of it, either she has been experiencing it for a while, but very rarely (so you wouldn't see it), or she may be dealing with something which is causing her distress, or something which is worrying her.
You may also find that she will sleep talk too.

The best thing to do:
If she is just sitting up and staring, slowly ease her awake by gently stroking her hand and whipsering her name.
If she speaks in her sleep, don't try and wake her up. Instead try and 'go with' what she is saying (ask questions, try to understand what she is saying etc). When she wakes up talk to her about what she was saying and see if any of it means anything to her.

Another good thing to do would be to ask her if she is feeling alright about everything, or if anything is worrying her. Just have a discussion and see what's up.
Everything will be back to normal soon.

So, I know it's been quite some time since I've posted, but I'm back, and I need some input...

Alright, So...

I have been with my girlfriend for almost a year now, and we have lived together since the day we met (Yea, So we move quickly).

Last week, something unusual, and to me, very creepy happened.

My girlfriend was in bed, sound asleep, as she had been for at least 2 hours. I was no more than 8 feet away at my desk, hacking away at the keyboard like I always am. I have one dim desk light on, and turned towards the wall, so the light doesn't fill the room. The light is directly to my right, and the bed is directly to my left.

It's about 2-3 am, I have some music on quietly, and I am in a daze, just staring into my computer monitor.

Of course, out of habit, I will glance over at my girlfriend every so often, at random times.

So, here I am, sitting here quietly typing away, and I glance over at my girlfriend for absolutely no reason, and expecting to see her laying there dead asleep as she has been, she is dead AWAKE. Kind of. She has the biggest eyes you could imagine, like she was staring at a bullet coming towards her, but really really slowly, haha.

She is just staring right at me, with absolutely no expression or emotion. A cold, dead stare. I say a few words that I probably shouldn't repeat, and she then yawns, and smiles at me, with that cute smile she has. So, I of course ask her, why the hell were you just staring at me like that?

She has no idea what I'm talking about. She wasn't awake. Her eyes were as open as could be, and out of everything in the room, they were fixed directly on my, on my face, near perfect eye contact. Me saying something must have woken her up, and once it did, she had no recollection. She also said she wasn't having any dreams, that she knew of.

So, this really creeps me out, I don't know if I should take her to see a doctor or a priest, but I can hardly stand sleeping in the same bed as her now.

Oh yea, just FYI, not only did this happen that time, but the night after that as well, and the night after that, and then, about 20 minutes ago. So, 4 nights in a row, the same thing has happened, and she doesn't remember a single time. She is always staring at me, eyes wide open, no emotion.

I nearly defecated on myself tonight when I glanced over and there she was, just a few feet away from me, staring me right in the eye. The best part?

Me: "Baby, What the HELL? STOP STARING AT ME LIKE THAT! Baby? Why are you looking at me like that? Baby?!! BABY??!!"
-- All this time, she is giving me a dead stare, and I am yelling because I almost threw something at her out of instant reaction--
Her: "Huh? .................................. Huh? ...... What?"

She stared at me long enough to blurt all of that stuff out, and FINALLY she responded, and she had no idea what was going on...

Anyone have ANY idea what could be causing this??? The only thing that has changed in the past week would be that we quit smoking, but I don't think quitting smoking puts little demons in your head!

Dude!! Get a priest and head for the hills!!

Don't let her get you brother!

I would be very careful with this type of statements. As you can probably imagine these are some serious medical or psychological issues:

Just shouting around about God and exorcism, especially if probably not true, can be a very misleading thing to do. For my part I dont care about God really. I have never had any experiences like that.

You know there was a time not too long ago when little girls were literally exorcised to death.. with the wrong belief of god and superstitious assumptions.

So please be aware of the possible consequences your words might cause in such a delicate situation. For that girl which sleepwalks and tries to do very self-endangering things while doing it... I would not leave her sleeping alone. For love is sure one thing she needs, but if she is a colder type I would not exagerate.. or make her feel uncomfortable. As others said this could have psychological origins.

Personally i would never trust a priest. As i would find it hard to trust any psychologist. But eliminating the causes which can be verified most easily.. like some members suggested: medications.. recent or severe experiences. Maybe asking if she's okay to be filmed when such things happen in a further step?

After all the decision is yours. And it's a very difficult one.. I would not envy you for this. You have to realize that getting help from someone you trust is always a good idea.. as long it makes sense.
