Congratulations to everyone, including the winners! I must say, of all the forums I've seen on the net, ATS has the most talented. I am looking forward to seeing everyone's entry for the next theme.

Btw, has the theme and date for the next contest been decided?

Indeed it has. But to gain that information, you'll have to keep your eyes and ears open. The theme will remain a secret until the competition is opened, but you can expect something in a week or so.

Hmm...well since the contests revolve around historical days, and wikipedia states these as significant in January:

Historical Firsts

* 7 First American presidential election, 1789
* 8 First State of the Union Address in the U.S by George Washington, 1790
* 10 First great oil discovery in Texas, 1901
* 10 First United Nations General Assembly met in London, 1946
* 21 Nautilus (SSN-571), first atomic submarine launched, 1954
* 23 Elizabeth Blackwell, first modern woman physician, graduated from Geneva Medical School of western New York, 1849
* 24 Gold first discovered in California by settlers, 1848
* 27 Canadian Great Western Railway first opened, 1854

Historical Events

* 17 Operation Desert Storm (U.S. air campaign during the Gulf War) began, 1991

Holidays

* New Year's Day - January 1st
* Martin Luther King Day in the United States - 3rd Monday
* Australia Day in Australia - January 26
* Republic Day in India - January 26

Source: en.wikipedia.org...

I'll would have to start working on my "First United Nations General Assembly met in London" avatar right away

We never sent one out. The judges will be sure to get one

You mean the mods didn't get the memo on the new coversheets for the TPS reports?

Seriously, if the next theme is this much of a secret, it has to be good!

Truly 2 great pieces of work, and I kind of figured Regenmacher would win heavyweight, looked like allot of work weant into that. all the entrys were great, hope to see some more in the near future (as in that new contest that comes up in a couple weeks the chissler is talking about).

Hi and Congrats Peeps!!

Great bunch of work!!

For myself, I am darned well pleased, if not completely amazed, that it placed where it did in Lightweight. For what it's worth, I did that little animation 6 YEARS ago to emblazen a Cyber-Christmas Card for our Horse Farm. To give you an idea, it was done in PSP 4, and to this day is the first and only animated GIF I have ever done!

Thanks, Chissler and Staff, and I am certainly looking forward to the next contest!!

Overall I am very satisfied with how this competition played out. We made a big step in asking that all members do their own leg work, and as usual, we stepped up and did ATS proud. The level of talent we were seeing on these avatars was remarkable and I hope to see more of the same on the next competition.

Stay Tuned....

Yeah you didn't come in last, I did.

You can consider the ones that did not enter as the one who came in last place

Everyone did great, so there's no reason to be disappointed in any of the art work. I'd share my current points with everyone if I could as a prize for everyone who entered.
