U.S. helicopter crashes in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Nov. 15 � A U.S. Army helicopter crashed in northern Iraq on Saturday, the military said. There was no word on the cause of the crash or possible casualties. Word of the crash came hours after a roadside bomb killed a U.S. soldier, making him the 400th American serviceman to die in Iraq since hostilities began March 20.

But this is hardly any more detailed than previous info..

�A QUICK REACTION force is securing area,� said a military spokesman who spoke on condition of anonymity. The spokesman did not know the type of helicopter that went down.

So, CSAR is on the way..



But it would be nice to know what will they find there..

2 Blackhawks collied in mid-air while evading a MANPAD launched..

(SAM..)



They were on the way to help some US patrol that was ambushed and surrounded..

(CNN) -- Seventeen U.S. soldiers were killed, five were injured and one was missing when two U.S. Black Hawk helicopters crashed Saturday in a residential neighborhood in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

23 Casualities at the moment..

17 KIA, 5 are to get PURPLE HEARTS and 1 MIA..

This is depressing. It reminds me of "Band of Brothers" where even though the war in Europe was over men still kept dying. Even though I'm sure it doesn't compare to previous wars, it still seems like lots of crashes and deaths just because we end up hearing about each one.
