US is next... But don't worry. Nothing but your name, age,sex and birthplace will be on the cards.
Everything else will be kept at the home office.
All for the good on the War against Terrorism.

Governments already have our information anyway, I think this just gives officials greater speed in identifying people, just by a flash of a card. Next thing you know, It'll be an electrical node underneath our skin, where sensors are on every street corner! Kind of reminds me of the old alien movies where we get implanted with devices.

Can't drivers licenses do that, why do they need another card?

That's what they tell you. In all odds, they're slipping in some nasty surprises, like a GPS locator, maybe somethign that samples your DNA or something.

You Guys Already have them!!!

We already have a National ID card here in Australia it is called the "Photo Licence"...If you do not have a Photo ID here, you will have difficulty proving you are you.Or even if you look young , without a photo ID you will not be admitted to a club or Pub So those without a Licence are forced to go to the REgistry and Get a Phtot ID at their own expense.
About 15 years ago the Hawke Labor Government wanted to introduce the "Australia Card" but The Public shouted it down, so what did they do?..within 12 months the "Photo Licence" was introduced....It is now the standard, and definitely the precursor to the Chip being implanted. Crediy Card companies are already talking about having your picture or thumbprint or something on them for a "more secure" way of Identification...makes one wonder where it will all end.....

National ID cards are optional here in Finland. I'm probably gonna get one, because it's a bitch to carry a passport to prove that I'm 19 everytime I'm going to a bar.

That reminds me, I gotta get a new passport next year. Biometric passports, here I come.

Reminds me of Minority Report where they scan your eyes every ten seconds to track where you are.

...I think that my Social Security Card & Driver's License is enough ID for them...If not, then they can kiss my lilly-white @$$

...And I don't expect them to be honest at all about their *reasons* for doing this...

Wouldn't having a national ID card make it easier for people to duplicate their way into citizenship? We already have driver's license/ state ID.

i dont think you would need a GPS tracker in your ID. It would have to be a secret, therefore if you were running from a crime they couldnt use it to trace you openly, and if your not running your easily found.

You have to look at it this way....Kids (0-15) and the people who are denied one or had it taken away don't have a drivers licence....this is just a way to be identify those people who don't have one.

It is a sad day when you can just say who you are...when you have to be pulling an ID out even when you pay with cash or just go to the park! I am against this whole ID thing...I too am see in chips or bugs being implanted in to us. and having us tracked 24/7! even when we sleep! It is scarry if you think about it...

All I can say is that the world is changing, there are a lot of things going on that the public doesn't know about and certian things they shouldn't. We do need a form of identification that is fast and reliable. That is about all i can imply about that

With our current technology it is possible that those cards will have some sort of tracking device in them.
I mean we already have Drivers Liscences for ID.
What would the purpose of this serve?
Me thinks its a steaming pile of maneur.

The only people that should be worried about getting these cards are criminals and terrosists otherwise everyone should be alright about it.
