You beat me to it. Also the Kitty Hawk was decommissioned 12 May 2009, it was not a nuclear powered carrier and was replaced by the George Washington in Japan.

Our(the USAs) ASW/sub hunting skills are not as good as our military leaders would like the rest of the world to believe. Often during find the sub missions, the crew on the sub would have to get a hammer and bang the hull to enable the sub hunter to find them.
