First post here but I'm rather infamous over at abovetopsecret.com, particularly in the 9/11 Conspiracy forums.

While I've never even heard of "Fungi" the only fame he seems to have around here is being known as a "joke". Hmmm

Nothing worth getting worked up over. Here's the reality, the site he's begging for help on (if he's so good why is he begging for help? ) gets about 1 hour's worth of ATS' traffic in a week. Go figure...

That being said, I really DO respect some of Randi's work, they have blown the lid off of several hoaxers and morons in general. Probably why our "famous" Fungi has been pretty much ignored over there.

Tactic 18: Antagonize

Emotionalize, Antagonize, and Goad Opponents. If you can't do anything else, chide and taunt your opponents and draw them into emotional responses which will tend to make them look foolish and overly motivated, and generally render their material somewhat less coherent. Not only will you avoid discussing the issues in the first instance, but even if their emotional response addresses the issue, you can further avoid the issues by then focusing on how "sensitive they are to criticism".

Example: "You are such an idiot to think that possible -- or are you such a paranoid conspiracy buff that you think the 'gubment' is cooking your pea-brained skull with microwaves, which is the only justification you might have for dreaming up this drivel." After a drawing an emotional response: "Ohhh... I do seemed to have touched a sensitive nerve. Tsk, tsk. What's the matter? The truth too hot for you to handle? Perhaps you should stop relying on the Psychic Friends Network and see a psychiatrist for some real professional help..."

Rules are fine but whose side are you on in the first place? Different ideas? Committed debunkers are not about ideas but about lording over others it appears. In fact most of their so-called discussion is preformated diatribes formulated by others.

If however there was something that I did to wrong you and you feel me being "insulted" is a .. common thing that I do on this site then feel free to U2U me with your complaints and Ill gladly have a civil conversation with you, instead on cowardly attacks like that on a board in front of everyone.

I`m very disappointed as i`ve seen this type of thing in different forms.

I have read many 9/11 threads and threads in general.

Personal attacks are an ugly thing to read and uglier when its left unmoderated and more so when it comes from moderators.

As far as i can read this guy fungi has a belief and an opinion,as we all do.

Its harder if your opinion is out numbered and its no excuse to use that to be personally attacking uncourtious rude insulting and make a scape goat out of someone on ATS or in our real lives just because their view differs from what may seem the majority and if the majority is 100% right why not show him/her the error of their ways or thoughts with at least some common decency.

Here`s another thread where its allowed for some reason to continue not to mention many other`s or is it just i have a minority view regarding this,if so i expect to be attacked also.

Decorum folks.

Let's please remember where we are, and that ATSers comprise roughly 10% of those who read what we post.

Obviously in a case like this the temptation to point fingers and do a little taunting is natural -- and perhaps even healthy.

But even BTS is still ATS, in the sense that we do have higher standards for discussion than most forums on the Internet, and that is our greatest strength.

And don't forget my favorite little gem.

In this case, a fellow member got caught calling for a little backup and doing some e-grandstanding in the process.

I'm sure it's embarrassing.

But ultimately, when you look at it objectively, doctorfungi has been recruiting members for ATS.

There are some great minds on the JREF forums, so I suppose I can't blame doctorfungi for appealing to them.

And though ATS is regularly panned for being too "skeptical", the idea of more critical thinkers on ATS is not exactly one I can object to.

The ATS Spirit

Nobody's perfect, and while doctorfungi may be a few shades redder than his normal pallid hue (he is a fungus, after all ), I would like to say that in spite of this, I hope he will not be discouraged from continuing as a member of our community.

God knows, I've done plenty of jackassed things as a member myself.

But I'm still here, because there's nowhere else I'd rather be.

If you had to be perfect to be an ATSer, few -- if any -- of us would be here.

My advice: learn from this and move forward, but never be discouraged from pursuing the truth.

And most important of all, never be discouraged from speaking your mind here, because that's what we're all about.

Look,

All I am asking for over there is help.

When it gets to the point that I am threatened with death, violence, called a government agent, told I am a traitor etc etc. I think that I should be able to call for back-up from well informed individuals.

What harm can more members at ATS do?

Thanks Majic for your supportive post. It explains pretty well the reasons I posted there.

a) To recruit some critical thinkers to ATS because, quite frankly, alot of them can debate 9/11 truth seekers with for more ease than I can.

b) To get some tension off my back from people like ThichHeaded, who's aggresive attacks resulting in a derailment of my thread broke MORE than one rule. I've sent in a complaint but apparently it's gone un-noticed even though I outlined the exact rules in breach.

Look I am a little red faced right now, that's for sure. But I'm not changing my username, moving away from ATS or anything like that.

Say what you wil about me, it's all going right over my head.
