It seems that ,once again, the listing of recent blog updates has vanished from the first page. The area is there but there are no listings. Is this an issue that is meant to be fixed or is this merely the way things are going to be with regards to the blogs? Sadly, I have no traffic without the listing (very little with it) and my message is important and really needs to be read.

Ok, that isn't true but I did like seeing who had updated their blogs and I did like the idea that once a month someone actually clicked on my blog.

I don't know what the issue is with the main page, but you can always see what is new in ATS blogland by clicking the blogs link at the top of the page.

I know you can but I can attest to the fact that the traffic is far less when the new postings aren't visible on the main page of ATS. I'm concerned for my future readers. They are missing so much.

ok, again, not true. But in all seriousness, I know that I am more apt to click the link then to go to the site and then click the link. lazy as hell, for sure but the listing seems to bring me a viewer from time to time, versus none when the blogs aren't listed.

edited to add: I'm not so concerned with my own traffic, or lack thereof. Rather, I am concerned with my own ability to see the other blogs and for those that read them to be reminded that they exist and are updated. I use my own blog as an example because I don't know if others are still getting visitors. They probably are. Their blogs are far more interesting.

While I would argue that the "importance" of anyone's message is subjective, Crackeur has a point. Having the new blogs scrolled on the main ATS page drives traffic to those individual blogs. While I appreciate the dedicated blog site, no one goes to it.

That being said, there are a variety of ways that bloggers can market their columns to the wider web, including submitting the links to various blog search engines or even posting the work on a variety of different blog services to up your search engine exposure.

no offence intended , but :

what you are asking for is constant spoon feeding to pander to idiots with zero attention span , who whould forget the existance of your blog if it was not rammed down thier throat every time they visit the main page .

ATS is a wonderfull place full of nooks , cranies and hidden pearls of wisdom

exploing it is half the fun of beeing here - when you click on a link , you often do not know exactly what is waiting on the target page ,

for me that is the fun of it . i have blogs home bookmarked - that is not rocket science

and as well as my favourite ATS blogists , in no particular order : duzey , gemwolf & zed to name but a dozen

i will occasionally just click blogs at random from the alphabetic list - " just to see what is there " .

some blogs make me want to gouge my eyes out with a rusty spork , but others are pure bliss - and have found there way onto my must read list purely by random stabs at the hyerlinks .

try it , it is far more fun than sitting back awaiting your daily sppon feeding .

no, what I'm asking for is a listing so the members who are unaware of the 1/8th of an inch link buried along the top of the page can find out about the blogs. I'd rather see the blog updates than the statistics of the site or the podcasts.

Although I'm honoured to be on Ignorant Ape's favourites list (or anyone else's for that matter), but I still must agree with Crakeur. The links on the forum home page has a definite impact on the visitor numbers. Although the amount of visitors has no direct effect on my blogging (or lack thereof) but it makes blogging so much more "worth it" when you see that you had "many hits" compared to "less than many hits"...

What I'm saying is that the home page blog-linking is a "nice to have".

BTW I still believe Zedd is tampering with his Stats... It's just humanly impossible to do what he’s doing!

OK, OK, let's not start that again.
