I'd have to say "The Day the Earth Stood Still"

Now hear me out on this one! It's the creepiest because it's the most realistic. Aliens may come to our planet and In my opinion, the idea for chaos and just simple destruction sounds stupid. Instead I believe this movie's idea of Aliens coming in peace is more realistic. Along with the horrible fact that Earth will react negatively, simply assaulting the Aliens and causing a horrible war that was never meant to happen.

War of the Worlds.

And the remake.

Something about those huge whining things freaked me out

Nothing really compares to the Alien series. My favorite was Aliens with non-stop frightening moments one after the next - especially with Newt, but Alien was a classic thriller and Alien Resurrection was pretty cool, but not really scary.

Though Signs had a handful hair standing moments - my favorite was the Alien in the closet scene and when the farmer (Mel) used the knife blade as a spy mirror to see what was behind the door. We all use mirrors and you never know what you're going to find in the mirror - especially if it finds you on the other side of the reflection as happened in this film. I also like the basement scene when they tried to grab the one of the kids.

Fire in the Sky was okay, but didn't scare me and much of the movie was crap.

Communion had some spooky moments too.

Twilight zone the movie "the Alien monster guy" on the wing looking through the airplane window when the shade was lifted up was pretty scary. Scary enough that I look out of the airplane window once & awhile still and remember that scene, not to mention to make sure nobody's on the wing tearing apart the engines.

Oh yeah, somebody mentioned The Thing - Yeah that had some great scary moments too - the classic who's the bad guy turned into who's the shape shifting alien.

The movie that freaked me and my friends out the most growing up was Communion. When that aliens peaked from behind the bookshelf it was terrifying 80s cinima.

"Alien" scared me when it came out. Trapped on a ship with a monster on board.

For me it was the X-files series... I was a kid when it first aired and it freaked me out so bad I couldn't watch it and it gave me nightmares. Now I love it... go figure.

Movie that really freaked me out, but I like it is Communion. I was watching this recently when my SO came home and he started watching it with me and he made me turn it off... lol.
