A boozy pilot was rumbled yesterday by scared passengers as he got set to fly a 200 seater Airbus to London yesterday!!!!

It was understood one member of the ground staff boarded the plane and went into the cockpit,
Which reeked of drink!
He called the police, Who breath tested the pilot aged 50 as they made final techical checks....

Its said that him and 3 others were at a night club hours before they were due to take off...

god ive heard of drink and drive ..but drink and fly!!!!

Some American had a problem where both the pilot and copilot were carted off due to being massively inebriated before takeoff. Reckless driving on a massive scale.

Why do all ATS thread go back to booze?

In defense of the airline - most of the senior crew I have been lucky to know apply the 12 hour "bottle to throttle" rule. I guess a few are stupid enough to break it. They will suffer i am sure - and they deserve it - the same way that any person caught over the limit does. However - what has this to do with this forum ?

Don't look at me, I just arrived at this thread scene!
I can sympathise with that ol' fella, the drive home makes me nervous as well. What with the extreme speeds my cars maintains and all those stupid people in the way, I couldn't make it those 43 miles were it not for beer!
