Preceded Ferdinand four.

Philip I ruled before Ferdinand, before that it was Maximillian, before that Frederick III and before that Albert II.

Got nothing

Frederick III was the last Holy Roman Emperor crowned at Rome. I think he was also known as Frederick V of Austria

perhaps, rather than simply search and try rulers, we should look for rulers with conspiracies related to their time in power. It is about conspiracies, no?

A number of the most prominent representatives of Freemasonry and "enlightenment" became Illuminati, including, in 1783, Duke Ferdinand of Brunswick, the foremost leader of European Freemasonry and the princely representative of the illuminism of his age.

i recall reading a bit where one of the ferdinands parentage was in question, and he could have been the result of his mother sleeping with the chamberlain . I'll try to find it again, I dont recall seeing much else for conspiracies directly relating to the name though.

The following link has a lot of information regarding the pope at the time of Sigismund's reign as Holy Roman Emperor, as well as the Council of Constance and the Western Schism.

www.newadvent.org...

I can't say I have much confidence in entering the correct answer to get the next question. I had blackplague.html and schlieffenplan.html before it was mentioned on here but all I got was "that's not what the eye wants"

Very frustrating!

Cheers,
Zep

Deals with the start of the illuminati and has a couple of people with the name Ferdinand mentioned. Sorry I am at work right now and don't have the time to really look over the site.
