an internet rumor talked about as truth on this site? How unusual.

I think it's unusual, but not outrageous.

Are you Australian? Have you ever eaten Vegemite? Vegemite is the 'apple pie' of Australia. It is a cultural icon.

Here here deessell

It’s an acquired taste for sure but once you have acquired it you would fight for the last jar in the world.

Here’s a tip – a friend had a dog that had been sick and was off his food and had been for weeks. He went to the vet and the vet got out the fridge a jar of veggiemite put some on his finger and put it on the dogs tongue. He was never off his food after that.

you've only been here a short time.

give it a couple of years and you'll see that baseless assumptions, innuendo and jumping on youtube video bandwagons without researching first are all common practise on ATS.

Being an American who has lived in OZ (near Brizzy and Beerwah) for over 1 year, all i can say about this is this: Vegemite is banned because it doesnt taste all that good lol

Im surprised people even eat that stuff, let alone put it into their mouths. Join us my brothers from downunder, and together we can make this world a more palatable place to raise the future generations...

In all seriousness, im glad for this thread and the awareness the OP has brought about with this. good onya m8.

Well I'm a happy little Vegemite, but that wasn't always the case. I was brought up on Marmite back in the old country and switching to Vegemite wasn't easy.

Like majestictwo said, it's an acquired taste..

Never even heard of Vegemite

So can't say as I'll miss whatever it is.

I supoose it's dissapointing though if it's something you enjoy. I got hooked on "banana nut Ego waffles" for awhile until I got fed up with them and laid off them for a few months. Then one day the store had none and when I inquired, the boy working there told me no such flavour of Ego ever existed.

Last week I couldn't find Rice Krispies, only the vanilla or chocolate flavour. Hopefully they have some next time and don't try telling me there's no such thing
