In Exercise Vigilant Shield 07, currently scheduled to culminate in December 2006 Russia throws 4 nuke ballistic missiles at US and terrorists blow up Pentagon with 1 kilotone nuke.

America throws 2 ICBM at Russia.

Then everybody just relax and hostility stops.

My favorite part is:

– Ruebek(Russia) Conducts Limited Strategic Attack on United States
• Wave 1 – 8 x Bear H Defense Suppression w/CALCM
• Wave 2 – Limited ICBM & SLBM Attack
– 2 x ICBM Launched (1 impacts CMOC [Cheyenne Mountain], 1 malfunctions)
– 2 x SLBM Launched Pierside (1 impacts SITE-R ["Raven Rock" bunker on the Maryland-Pennsylvania border], 1 malfunctions)

It really pisses me of that Russia and China are still in the UN. They don't deserve any right to be on it. Russia is still trapped in their Soviet time and China is not even close to a democracy. They both are helping out countries that are a threat to many. Too bad the UN can't see that.

To me, pretty sick that you seem so excited about your scenario. You even have a "favorite part". All I can guess is that you must be pretty juvenile (like in junior high school or something) not to have a clue what your 'favorite part' would actually be like for your fellow humans.

And you even put a smiley emoticon on your thread.

Are you nuts??
Do you know what the UN is all about?!!!!

The UN isn't NATO people!

Anyways, Russia would be on the US side, as Russia is now an Ally of the United States. Although there is a good chance China would jump into the war with N.K., China might remain reluctant due to the economic assets and trading policies we have. However Taiwan might be enough of a reason to throw all that away.

For me, the axis alliance would be Iran, N.K., Syria, Lebanon, and possibly China.

The Allies would consist of the U.S., Germany, The U.K., Russia, Iraq(if stable enough to have a standing army), and Saudi Arabia.

IMO that's what it wouhld look like.

However, WWIII is NOT something I look for.

I'd be the first person to say something like "Screw diplomacy, just get them out of there." But this is really something that requires diplomacy all the way, casualties would be staggering, worse than all the other wars, possibly even combined.

That's very naive thinking that Russia would be on the side of the U.S. especially in a likely conflict as detailed... Furthermore talk of an Iraqi standing army fighting for the US outside of its own borders is cloud cuckoo land, as is the idea of Saudi doing similar.

Man, have some sense of humor.

By the way, it is not my scenario, it is U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM) one.

And this scenario is insane as always.
In it Russia attacks first , but Soviet/Russian doctrine do not allow to make the first strike(USA doctrine allow it), Russia can use nukes only in response.
And if Russians will decide to use nukes, they will launch whole arsenal, not only 4 ICBMS how smart guys from Pentagon plans.

Why kickout? Because of the cold war Russia wont fight along with us?

Because of the Iraqi war, both of them, the Iraqi's won't have a standing army that can aid us?

Because Saudi Arabia is a muslim country Saudi Arabia won't help us?

Russia is a republic and now an ally of the U.S. who's policies on nuclear armaments is about the same as the US.

Iraq is an ally of the United States, if they do have an army and can aid some, they will.

Saudi Arabia is also an ally of the United States and has aided the United States in previous conflicts, such as the Gulf Wars.

I forgot to mention Isreal as an ally in the scenario as well.

I didn't pull those countries out of thin air, there's good reason why I would think they're on our side.

Sadly just because we have 'aided' those countries doesn't mean they will 'aid' us in foreign wars, in fact getting any kind of cooperation from the existing Iraqi Army / Police setup is proving decidedly tricky.

I wouldn't be so to quick to herald in a great era of Russian / USA friendship either. Putin is playing a crafty game and has gone on record several times recently being highly critical of US policy. If the cold war were truly over they wouldn't be ploughing so much into combat ready nukes and a fully combat-ready/hardened army. Russia will always play its own game.

Most Arab countries are too internecine and tied to greater Arab prestige and image to openly side with the USA. China and Russia both are digging into non-US oil reserves not just in Arab countries but Pan-African and beyond.

Things are changing very fast, the small window of America being the single superpower is closing quick. America needs to upgrade its worldview fast or be overtaken by events. This is starting to show in the NK scenario lately where reality 'bit' and presented a different face to that held by the Washington politicos who seem still (almost a week later) to be out of step and playing catch-up.

As for Israel being an ally, they bring along just as much an issue of 'liability' as anything else and Israel and Arabs fighting on the same side is pretty far out.

I am in complete agreement with you here, especially about Russia.

Sadly, America is not the only single Superpower. IMHO, America is doing pretty well with keeping up with the times, it's lasted this long so far, I wonder if we can go for 4 centuries of our status.

History has shown us that under a common threat, people unite, even former enemies. All we need are the right conditions. North Korea poses a real threat to all nations of the world, a Rogue State that recently aquired nuclear armaments. That's a real threat to all sovereins in the world, no matter who you are, or what allies or enemies you have.

Now what course of actions will be taken is up to the nations and what will come of N. Korea's new toys and how they will be used is totally up to Kim. For me, I see a new lever under that big boulder that is politics.

lol
the last time i check that Russia is more of a close alley to its neighboring country china than to the US.

If there is will be a future world war, I think it should be something like this:

--Eurasian Alliance consists mosly of the current SCO members:

-China
-Russia
-Kazakhstan
-Kyrgyzstan
-Tajikistan
-Uzbekistan
-Pakistan
-and possibly some other countries such as Nepal, Laos, Cuba, and some South America and African countries.

--Western Alliance consists mostly of the current NATO members:

-United States
-European Union (UK, France Germany, etc.)
-Canada
-Japan
-South Korea
-Australia
-New Zealand
-A few other possible allies such as Israel.

*ASEAN (South East Pasic countries), India and others might choose to stay neutral during the war.
**"Terrorist" countries might fight both sides or fight along one side but without being formally recognized.

One side is more resourceful while the other side has slightly higher technology.

Instead of one side overwhelmed the other side, WWIII shall be fought on a more balanced way than WWII, and thus result in an even more bitter outcome.

but again, hopfully it will never happen...

Attacking the US would be like attacking the rest of the world, because economically it would kill the world. Not even talking about America's response. People on here are such warmongers.

What you see as the common threat -- Aliens?

You say that North Korea poses a real threat to all nations of the world, why is that? Japan is the only country that should feel threatened. I have lived in South Korea for two years and remain in close contact with many people from there. They (the South Koreans) do not feel threatened by the North. Kim Jong Il's father made a pact twenty years ago that he/they would never attack the South again. Now, whether they are foolish to believe in that I don't know, but believe it they do.

WWII, Hitler made a pact with Russia not to invade, stalin agreed and felt safe from attack, later in the war Hitler attacked Russia.

Right, as well all know not everyone keeps their word. If it's conquest they want, then yeah, they'll attack.

Russia would join Iran's side long before ours!

They are strategic allies! They share the Caspian Sea as a quick and easy trade route as well as travel route over water; it's basicly a watery border they share. Alot of the weaponry and industrial materials for their nuclear programs that Russia sends Iran goes through the Caspian, a landlocked sea free of foreign powers.

Iran and Russia are pretty tight. While Russia publicly will not say they agree with anything Iran is trying to accomplish, covertly they assist and aid them with materials, knowledge, logistics, intelligence, etc. Even offered to come in and build all their nuke plants if they promised not to have a weapon program. Infact theyre building a nuke plant for Iran anyways right as we speak. Russian personnel are on the ground in Iran as we speak at nuclear sites people.

If those sites were attacked Russian nationals would die. Do you honestly think Russia would help the United States and its hated ally Israel in a war with Iran? That is laughable. Remember Putin was a former KGB spy; he knows how to wear a fake face and act like he is for one thing when he's really quite against it, the domination of regional powers by the United States, especially Israel. Russia sent two muslim Chechen 'crack' army brigades to Lebanon for the 'UNIFIL force', except they arent under total control of the UN/Nato, they are maintaining Russian control. Israel is not happy about this at all.
Article

Basicly, if the U.S. and Iran ever have a go, Russian will covertly help Iran in the same manner we covertly helped the Afghanis repel the Soviets in the 80's with weapons and logistic support. It's precisely the same deal, and in their eyes, very well payback.

We will also lose favor with Iraq as a solid ally eventually, in the years to come, simply because they are a majority Shiite country and their neighbor, Iran, is again a very tight ally now, or to be when the U.S. gets out, because Iran is Shiite, and many Iraqi Shiites share ethnic blood with Iranians and have family across borders. The Iranians go on pilgrimages to Iraqi Shiite holy sites, and secretly supply the Mehdi Army militia and other smaller Shiite militias in Southeast/Eastern Iraq, that participate in sectarian butchering of innocents daily. Not to say the Sunni butchers are any better..

LOL... you know what, the rest of the world are pissed as hell the U.S. is still in the UN. The U.S. disregards the UN and invades Iraq for WMDs, the U.S. implements the use of torture on prisoners of war.

This is just so typical of you Americans... blinded and hypocritical against other nations. You're telling me the only nations that should be allowed in the UN are Western democratic nations who would never oppose the United States?

Such ignorance... sigh.
