I love all the alien theme stuff. Are you modeling and rendering in 3DSMax?

Wow SdiRailgun, awesome picture, definitely recognize the German design, good work on the texture as well.

The one I did with the cows is Lazar'ish sport model, not exactly though.... and the other picture with the green alien is the same model, the inside view. I did the ship in anim8tor and used vue for the rendering. I tried 3ds before, it was tough to learn. So I have plenty of respect for you 3ds users.

great job

Glad you guys liked it.
Yeah, I used 3dsmax 5 if I remember correct. I´m pretty much selftaught with the software, which means it takes me forever to get something done, its very rare that I ever finish a project. My goal was to actually get so good I could work in this field, but I guess I woke up and smelled to coffee one morning LOL!

I did a very short movie-scene of a space-craft slingshotting around a planet and added sound. It was totally unrealistic but the end result was fun to watch

While entering Arizona on my way to Tombstone I noticed a very large "craft" coming across the Mountains, I told my buddy to get the camera ready. I knew it was coming toward us and it looked very familiar, seconds later it speed across the highway....

Ok ok I'm lying,
I wished it happened lol, but did have fun in Tombstone. and doing this cgi.

Outstanding Stuff, do you use HDRI in your work. The lighting looks really good in the Chad ufo over the road shot, and is that why the rendering takes so long. What kind of video card do you use in your work?

Thanx

Sys_Config

It was done in poser and took less than a minute to render, most of the editing and lighting was done in PSP X. (maybe a little to heavy on the shadows)

Here is the original render, as you can see it's pretty crappy. I used three programs, anim8tor to create the drone, poser for the render and PSP X for editing.

Nothing high end on my computer, I have a NVIDIA GeForce 6100, not that great of a video card lol, though have been thinking about upgrading a few programs and hardware.

Thanks....

That is great for the type of card you have.( I have an 256/mb 6600gt agp If I get rid of it I will let you have it thats a promise) Its not how much you have but what you do with it..you have done fabulous. Your story is much like this guy who did the "alien song" video a very short animation > it features an alien moving to gloria gaynors I will survive.
He got a job with Pixar..learned on the stuff you are using ..not heavy duty but got the job done..

keep up the good work!

Nice..it took 10 years off his age. The stuff keeps getting better and better..I meant to tell you if you get a 6800 you can mod it to a quadro 3000..it has to have the early version .nv 4.2 or something...i forget the site its 3dguru or guro3d that have all the mods and upgrades for nvidia and ati..you can pick up a 6800 pretty cheap now like 50 or 75 bucks check ebay on that. Then your renderings will really be boosted.

If you plan to do 3d modeling with the latest versions of 3dsmax / maya (Dunno about lightwave or XSI), then it really depends on your current system specs on what you ''should'' upgrade lol. (Unless you don't mind to wait for ages to render an animation frame by frame... for 30 minutes, for 3 seconds =|, exaggeration obvious lol)

I'd like to thank ya for postin' on my thread and I've never checked your thread 'till now, the stuff's amazin', if you ever need some character designs I'd gladely draw the aliens so you could render them in 3D. See ya later Xphiles !! (for those who haven't seen my work I'll leave ya with this)
