The reason Dr. Doom ("Major" Ed Dames) keeps beating the "Kill Shot" drum is not necessarily because of what he thinks/knows he has RVed, but because
of all the Extra terrestrial risks we do know of, (space debris and the like) the "Kill Shot" is the most likely to occur. If for no other reason he
is selling DVDs on the subject, but being for warned is the first step in arming ones self with the necessities to survive the impending fall out.
It is truly not a question of "what if?" but a question of "when". A little light reading on the subject, off a "Main Stream" News Paper post in
Canada.

Two real things from outer space that could devastate the planet, and one right here on Earth

In the past few months, a pair of existential threats to life have appeared from outer space, and one here on Earth. The National Post rounds them
up:
GIANT ASTEROID FLYING TOWARD THE EARTH
A UN action team that tracks asteroids has noted that the giant rock labelled 2011 AG5 has a chance to slam into the Earth around 2040 or so. From a
report on [external] Space.com:
The space rock, which is called 2011 AG5, is about 460 feet (140 meters) wide. It may come close enough to Earth in 2040 that some researchers are
calling for a discussion about how to deflect it.
We shouldn’t worry too much though. Even if 2011 AG5 is on a course to hit the Earth (and that isn’t certain, in fact there is only a 1 in 625
chance), there are plenty of opportunities to deflect its course. There are windows in 2023 and 2029 to change the asteroid’s course.
SOLAR MEGA FLARE COULD ENGULF THE PLANET
A new paper published in Space Weather, predicts that there is a 1 in 8 chance that the Earth will be blasted by a giant mega flare from the sun
before 2020.
While such an event likely wouldn’t fry all life on Earth, as implied by the movie Knowing, the flare could possibly disrupt electrical and radio
systems and could, in fact, be strong enought that power stations and the entire electrical grid could be shut down, or worse, permanently
destroyed.
From [external] wired.com:
The potential collateral damage in the U.S. of a Carrington-type solar storm [Carrington was the largest solar storm on record and hit 150 years ago]
might be between $1 trillion and $2 trillion in the first year alone, with full recovery taking an estimated four to 10 years, according to a
[external] 2008 report from the National Research Council.
“A longer-term outage would likely include, for example, disruption of the transportation, communication, banking, and finance systems, and
government services; the breakdown of the distribution of potable water owing to pump failure; and the loss of perishable foods and medications
because of lack of refrigeration,” the NRC report said.
MUTANT HYPER VIRULENT BIRD FLU
Putting aside threats from space, two labs have done research on the bird flu that could make it far more virulent than it already is. Currently, some
estimates have put the Bird Flu’s kill rate at about 60% of humans infected. However, it is very difficult for the flu to pass between humans and
therefore it does not spread especially widely.
The new virus in question is an H5N1 avian influenza strain that was genetically altered in a Dutch lab so it can pass easily between ferrets. That
means it is likely contagious among humans for the first time and could trigger a lethal pandemic if it emerged in nature or were set loose by
terrorists, experts have said.
The creation of the virus has lead to a row in the scientific community over whether the data should be published in scientific journals. While a

And, even if the flu was released, it’s unclear how virulent it really would be. From our story on the row:
