Breaking News - UN Headquarters Goes on High Alert after Receiving Terrorist Threats

The UN boosted it's security level after Swiss authorities advised them there might be possible planned attacks on the UN in the next few days. Details of the threats are unknown at this time and no actual tragets are mentioned.




Here we go again they have started the roller coaster ride again, is this real or just something to retain people's attention?

I will update if and when more details come in.

SO_ we have this, we have a number of bomb threats in different schools and God knows what else.

HMMMMM....Wonder what Karl Rove is up to? after all he did promise a big October surprise to help swing the voters back to the Republican party. Hope it back-fires on the bastard.

Terrorists don't like the end of the week. They'd rather have major attacks on the days they can get the most TV bang for their ... uh .. bang.... Mon/Tue/Wed.

I saw a talking head from DC say that. Considering this is Thursday I'd say they are more likely to hit next week on Tuesday, after the long holiday weekend.

(we will be in NYC tomorro and again on Monday. Figures ... *sigh* )

FF, but what day does ROVE like??? hmmmm....

I tell you my mother flies in from Phoenix today to Rhode Island and i have to pick her up at 11 pm- Its an all day trip and i surely do hope its UNEVENTFULL!
She's 80. I hope she will be safe. I would appreciate a prayer or two for her.

Today the news will be hopping for sure.

Terrorists love mon/tue/wed because they get the media coverage. A major hit on a Friday (and a three day weekend following) wouldn't get the coverage the terrorists want.

It's common sense and it's what the terrorist analysts say in DC as well.

It could still happen, but Tuesday after the holiday, is the more likely day.

Sorry flyersFan but I am not buying your theory. The bombings in Madrid took place on a Thursday. Several other attacks took place on weekends in Bali and Saudi Arabia also as I recall.

It's not MY theory .. it's what the talking heads said on TV. The 'experts' on this from DC say that the terrorists prefer a beginning of the week so they will get the most media coverage.

That's not saying that they will take advantage of any situation and if they see an opening on a Thursday .. they'll take it. But they prefer the most media bang for their hit.

As far as Bali goes .. of course the nightclub was hit on a weekend. That's when it's mostly packed.

I think it's common sense. They'll hit when they think they can get the most people and the biggest media coverage. They'll hit anytime of course, but I'm sure they prefer the most media time.

I didnt' say that. I said it was more likely that they would wait until Tuesday for the long weekend to be over .. for the buildings to be full and for full media attention.

I'm stuck going to NYC Friday and Monday. I usually love to go. I'm not too worried. But I'll keep this in mind.

Just curious why flyersfan keeps mentioning a long weekend? Does Europe have a long weekend this week also?

Too the best of my knowledge Columbus Day with a few exceptions is a work as usual day for most Americans.

Because in America it's Columbus Day. The UN is in America. It's a federal holiday. Many schools close. Postoffices close. Many federal buildings close. The UN could very well be closed. If it isn't, then many times people take the day off as a vacation day anyways becasue the kids have a holiday so they take a long weekend.

That's what we are doing. My daughter has a long weekend. My husband is taking a vacation day on Monday. Many in his office are doing the same thing. A family LONG weekend.

THAT is why I keep mentioning a long weekend. In NYC .. it's a holiday for many people. That's where the UN is .. NYC.

It was a raid in Iraq and they think they got another man number two of alqaida and one in Iraq.

They are waiting for the DNA test.
