I don't think Bush has the wits to be Emperor Palpatine.

If bush wanted to win a third election, (supposing the 22nd is nullified) then his approval rating wouldn't matter much, since he lost the last 2 elections but is still in office.

Wait wait... he lost the last two? How did his opponents win?

Well, considering that floridians don't know how to punch a candidate ballot, anything is possible!!!

People get tombstones made before they die? I've never heard of that until now. Naturally you couldn't put an end date on there, unless you were planning suicide...

Now you are just scaring yourself silly for no reason. The 22nd Amendment isn't going anywhere. I know that in 2008 when Hillary is in I'll probably be just as scared as you are right now about the 22nd Amendment. But seriously .. the citizens of this country wouldn't go for it.

It's not up to the people; all it requires is 2/3 approval by both houses of congress.

It won't happen.

Don't be so sure. The resolution, introduced in Feb 2005 has been with the Subcommitee on the Constitution since April 2005. I would not be surprised at all if it was re-introduced by the end of this year; especially since the Republicans can not depend on a majority in congress after the elections.

Imagine the public outcry if something of this magnitude actually happened. All hell would break loose, and everyone here knows that. Special Interest groups, as well as basic leymen everywhere would rise up in arms about this, and march right up there to tell them to fix it before they did themselves. The People aren't stupid, nor do I think we'd knowingly allow something so damaging to our form of government to take place.

Just my take on this. I'll keep an eye on this for future developments.

LOOK!!!

It's just a joke
I find this all pretty.... silly.

Its obvious, the ending date was not included, because there is a number of things that can happen. Assasination, natural death, impeachment, suicide.

Thats why it says 2001 - BLANK

I'd be worried if it said something different.

I really don't think the statue means anything. It is disturbing that they are awarding such a thing to a man who is still in office, and accomplished little if not nothing during his term. But that is not the same as being ominous in any way.

People aren't stupid, nor do I think we'd knowingly allow something so damaging to our form of government to take place.

Where have you been for the last 30 years? Damaging to our form of Government? How about REX-84? Or the "Patriot" act? What about the rampaging Govt. agencies that are oppressing innocent civilians or invading the privacy of the nation? What about MANDATORY immunizations for all children in order to attend school, on top of a law requiring them to attend? What about the construction of detainment camps across the nation? There is almost no end to the things "we" have allowed to happen in this country, and even now, when things are looking their worst, nobody does anything, or says anything. People ARE stupid, for the most part anyways, and they have been allowing things to take place for a very long time.

I do believe the states vote to ratify any constitutional change, as well, not just both houses.

This argument was had earlier this year, and got just as silly then, too.

Really? Hmmm, well they have pretty much sit idly by thus far.I'm still waiting for this "mass upheaval" everyone says that would take place if the government got out of control.
People are sheep.

We'll see.
People are sheep. They will go with the flow and try to see the "bright side of things."
Good luck.

The statue has a blank because his term isn't up yet. When his term is up, it will be filled in. The longest he can be president for is until 2009.

There is no real support in congress for letting a person serve more than 2 terms as president. That wouldn't allow bush to be president again, btw, it would allow him to run again, and he'd certainly be running against Bill Clinton, and almost certainly get trounced. I don't think that the republicans are interested in having Bill Clinton as president again.

There was actually a thread on this from a while back too:
www.abovetopsecret.com...

But its inactive so feel free to continue here. Some good information for review in that thread though.

You have to understand that the people are not going to rally together to stop anything until they all feel as though they've been pushed too far. Something drastic will have to happen before the people come to grips with the idea that their trust has been misplaced. When that happens, believe me when I say that ALL will know that it's time to stand up and say something.

Edited for clarity.

What would you do to fight this Anti-American Process to stop GWB?

How can you fight it if you will be put in an interment camp or listed on the notorious black list and maybe found missing one night or picked up by the Secret Service because of threats made against him?

Scarry Stuff eah????

The bill quoted HR 24 was introduced into the 109th Congress in Feb of 2005 and was referred to a judiciary commitee. It has since gone nowhere. Even if it did it would still need to pass a House vote, Senate Vote, ratification by the President and since it is a constitutional amendment with would have to be ratified by 3/4th's of the STATE legislatures. This all is not only not likely to happen at all, it's not likely to happen within enough time for GW to get re-elected.

So they didn't put a date on his bust ... big deal. Maybe they figured it was best to leave it blank and fill it in when his term is up, assuming nothing happens medically or otherwise between now and then.

The sponser of the bill to repeal the 22nd amendment, Hoyer, is a Democrat.
Just thought I'd throw that out there, not making any implications. Perhaps it was a means to try and get Clinton back in the White House.
