Why Are There No Prophets Today?

I couldn't quote all of this because it was too long, but I agree with John. I've prophesied to people about things in their life that have come to pass. If you mean Prophets (big 'P') like the one's in the Bible then I don't know what you're after. They were just speakers for God. In those days the Holy Spirit wasn't around and God had to give power to certain people (there were women prophets too!) to get his word across. Today the Holy Spirit is given to all who believe that Jesus was born, was crucfied and rose again, so all christians can be prophets. Prophesy is 'the ability to predict or reveal through, or as if through, divine inspiration', it's not a weeji-weeji allakazam thingy. I can tell John that he should avoid green cars for a while and that would be prophesy, in the same way that somebody else would predict a 7.2 earthquake in New York tomorrow or another person could tell George Bush to stay away from Florida next week. All or none of those could mean something to the person(s) involved or not, it's up to them if they listen or not.

ahhh....but women aren't to teach men....so, surely God wouldn't put a women in a position where she is trying to convince him that the path he wishes to take is the wrong path, now would he???seems to me she'd have to do a little bit of teaching to do that one!!

the point that I am trying to make is that maybe we have put so many restrictions on what the followers of God can do, that well, the prophets are there, but they're trying to live up to our expectations, staying within those restrictions, so well, in a way, aren't we restricting God as to what he can do.....
ya know, God wants the prophet to climb the ladder and tell them roofer not to step on the loose board and fall through the roof, but well, we all know that the godly women don't wear men's clothes, so she isn't dressed in a way that she can climb the ladder?
