What Is A Crush?

Over the last few days I've been thinking about this, and honestly
can't come up with a simple answer iwthout dividing it into two
seperate things.

When someone says they have a crush on someone, does it refer to
them liking them because they're attractive or is it that they like them
for who they are?


So, my fellow men and women, what is a crush in your opinion?

Because honestly, I'm confused as hades.

I class crush as sort of a physical thing?

Like how little girls get crushes on famous movie stars etc!

I don't know though thats just what I think lol.

I would say that it's both - you find the person physically/sexually attractive and like them for who they are, but for whatever reason the other person doesn't see it or realize it, or he or she isn't available...

I think a crush is mostly physical attraction- like crookedblue said, think young teens and celebrity "hearthrobs".

Sometimes it can be a little more than that though, like maybe there is a guy/girl in your class or at your work that says funny things or is really nice to you, that could also develop into a "crush".

To me a crush is more "distant" than actually liking someone romantically. You don't really know much about them, so you kinda fill in the blanks for yourself, unless you decide to get to know them better.

I would add that crushes are absolutely great! Who wouldn't enjoy meeting someone that they find sexy and wonderful?

I say have as many crushes as you want, as long as they do not become fixations ;-)

I think a crush is a type of attraction you make based on what you see.

Example. I see a hot girl. She is perfect in every physical way. I develop a crush for her.
I get to know her and realise the most intellectual thing she can talk about is shoes, she doesn't have a sense of humour and is extremely vain.
I know regret ever knowing her and feel ashamed for ever liking her. I punish myself by repeatedly whipping my back then become celibate for a few years.

Tis has helped aleviate some of my curiosity on what exactly it is.


I'm still interested in hearing other peoples opinions as well.

A temporary, short lived infatuation usually by someone very young.
