The ignorant remarks of the Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez at the United Nations General Assembly yesterday seem to be taking almost all the focus
off the Iranian president's speech he delivered the day prior. For most Americans, or at least most conservatives, the comments made by Chavez do
nothing but reaffirm their stance that this "Axis of Evil" is real and out to bring doom and destrcution to the United States. The word's of the
Iranian President, however, have much more substance and meaning. The man actually brings to light several issues that deserve to be looked into
deeper, such as the United State's and Great Britain's domination of the U.N.
Before you run around screaming "He wants to wipe Isreal off of the map" and "He said The Holocaust never happened", you should save yourself the
embarassment and do some research. Ahmadinejad never exactly said he wanted to "wipe Israel off the map", He said that "the occupation regime over
Jerusalem must be erased from the page of time.” The media ran with a mistranslation.

Also, he does not fully "deny" The Holocaust occured. He does, however, passionatly beleive that the figures of Jewish dead in Europe as a direct
result of genocide were grossly exageratted as a pretext for the occupation of Palestinian lands. The full story behind this is quite lenghty, but
very interesting. It would make for a great research project.
I highly suggest you read the speech in it's entirety. This mindset of this speech is the same of many others in the Middle East and the rest of the
world alike. If we allow our government to trample over these "third world" countries left and right, eventually we will be paying for it.
