Take this war in Iraq for instance, Bush and other government officials wanted to go in for whatever their reasons were, and in no time at all everyone was scared of chemical attacks, out buying duct tape and plastic, creating safe rooms in their homes, everyone screaming, Remember 911, in effect in no time at all Saddam was also being held responsible not Bin Laden, though there was no proof of his involvement, Please note I'm not saying he was or wasn't just that there was no proof, There was a Russian speaking to an American, the American asked the Russian how it felt to live in a country that fed its people so much propraganda, the Russian responded, Ah but at least we know its properganda. Once the war in Iraq started there was very little mention of what was happening in Afghanistan, once the ball started rolling then artists jumped on board with patriotic songs and the media fed us whatever BS that seemed popular, pander to the majority's belief forget reality. We are not being given the whole story and when something does leak out then you will notice they start stirring people's emotions with other issues like gay marriage, etc., What do you think?

Absolutely!

There is little left to believe in except yourself and those who have proved themselves to be trustworthy.

Most knowledge is proclaimed heresy of one sort or another unless it makes the existing elite more powerful/rich.

One other thing to think about is that we are proud of the free press guarantee in the bill of rights. We also badger other countries for having state run media programs. But what we do forget is that our government censors just as much information and run our own one sided version of the story. Or the government just doesn't release details which is just as equally aggravating.

Its total propaganda big brother society.

The media are the servants of government.

Notice after the 2000 election debacle, all media outlets kept repeating the mantras "healing" and "coming together" after Democrats and Repugs hotly challenged the validity of the results. They repeated those words ad nauseum as if to lull us to sleep.

Then, they started using different ones ad nauseum leading up to the war. "Freedom," "Democracy," and
"Homeland" or "Enemies of Peace".

(While at the same time the CIA was attempting to overthrow the democratically elected leader of Venezula, Hugo Chavez)

The media outlets- no matter if its radio or TV or papers-
just repeat the mantra of the corporations and the money lenders. To shape your opinion and spoon-feed you the reality that the power brokers want you to believe.

and not only the government, but the media companies themselves have agendas. reporters know there is some investigation that's not allowed by the owners. it's now the pharmaceutical/military/industrial/media/coup complex.
all controlled by the rothschild/rockerfeller/royals/commitee of 300/globalist meglomaniacs.
we've probably lost the war already as even people here refuse to admit this. it's hard to break the programming of a lifetime.

One of the things that really bother me is how most Americans don't even want to admit it, it like a bunch of ostriches sticking their heads in the sand, they never question if their being given the whole story or lied to, their so easy to manipulate, its like wanting to believe in a fairytale and while the castle is getting blowed away by the wind because it is made of styrofoam, their still waiting on the prince with the glass slipper.

I don't believe a word Our Gov't says I don't put my faith in the news. Before I believe something I make sure and do the research myself. Pretty sad when you can't trust anything anyone says.

This is all nice an all folks but where do you figure in all the lies?

Are you not all selfish?

Do you all not live better than you deserve to?

Do you all not waste or consume too much energy or lie to yourselves?

One who lies to himself is more easily led by others lies.

I disagree with the thought that people dont even admit that they are being fed propoganda. They do though as you said stick their heads into the ground like ostriches. The reason is different. People in the U.S. dont care...and they dont care because they dont want to. The majority of the peopel in this country dont want to even think about propoganda or politics. You bring it up and they react by calling you a wacko. Or coming right out and telling you they dont care. They dont care and dont want to waste their "precious" time caring.

Seapeople,

yes all true and the first sign of hypocrisy is denial.

the next step is lashing out.

the third is accepting partial blame.

the last step is one modifying their own behaviour so as to actually accomplish a beneficial outcome.

just my opinion.

I don't think its because people don't care, I think maybe they don't want to deal with it, because they feel helpless to change it.

I see you are Canadian, is this what you think of Americans, that glorified picture that we all drive a Rolls Royce and live at the beach lulling our hours away complaining about how good help is hard to find while we are waited on hand and foot. HMMM I don't know anyone like that everyone I know works for a living and hard work, we do our own work and pay for what we have with sweat and hard work. We don't have free medical care we have to pay for it and if you don't have the money that just too bad, I've had to make the decision whether to buy a childs prescription or the groceries, I've worked for minimum wage and when my husband could not find a job because we were in the middle of a recession, I went to work in the 80's my take home pay was 263.00 every two weeks thats without any insurance. The home we live in we built with our own two hands and our own sweat. So please don't tell me about spoiled Americans, most of us are not rich and most of us work for what we have, we also pay over 50% of what we make in taxes currently its 52%. It seems the world would like to blame Americans for all its problems because we are so selfish and rich, well thats not true, whenever there is a disaster anywhere we are the first to send aid to other countries, thats the American tax dollars paying for that Aid and no I am not complaining that we do that I'm glad we do but I get sick of hearing this bull # about us selfish Americans and how we are at fault for the worlds problems. And since you are Canadian you have a high standard of living yourself, isn't what you are saying like the kettle calling the pot black.

Another favorite of mine was after the 9/11 attacks, all of a sudden everybody became patriotic and believed whatever the government told them.

Notice how many american flags were bought by people, how much patriotic garbage went on sale after the attacks. Is this how we remember the lives of innocent people by buying crap from a sick twisted profiteering corporations, or should I say the Government?

I think some of us have known about all the deceptions for quite while. But the majority of people either dont want to admit it or just dont "get it".

I've known since I became fully cognitive that the governments of the world, including the United States, censor and propagandize the media. Too many unanswered questions or weak reasoning behind many things in our world. The media web has holes in it. Fairly large ones at that.

On this very issue, I used to be undecided. Now, I'm not so sure.

It doesn't matter what you believe, because it will make not a shred of difference to anyone but you.

Fit in, or # off.

To fit in, just follow these rules:

1. Consume.
2. Be silent.
3. Die.

Listen to those who tell you the Bush administration can do no wrong, and you will fit in to that philosophy of life nicely.

If you're looking for an alternative, I will start on that road another time. But remember, ATS is not about activism. When it's bad, forget it and play a video game or watch crap TV. When it's good, it treads a fine line between lucent discussion/improving people's perceptions of the world, versus dissident action against corruption and stupidity.

Here you will meet evolved and unevolved homo sapiens.

Believe what you believe, but follow the rules.

Or determine not to.

Not any more...I do the research & figure it out, but I don't wonder about the extent of the manipulation any more...
