Elvis Presley totally rocks...

i was digging out some old vinyl last night for a dance with my daughter and pulled out a load of Elvis....

its been years since i have sat and listned to the great man....and he is still the King.

this prompted me to watch my fave film..'3000 miles to Gracelands'....and that made me want to jump up and down in a white suite with sequins on it shouting 'viva Las Vegas' as i walked out of my kitchen with smoke behind me..(obviously that bits in my head..as usual)

my daughter is hooked and her faves appear to be 'such a night' and 'jailhouse rock'....

i was completley amazed when her first ever words last night were..'thank you very much...huh,huh'

PRAISE THE KING!

My favorite Elvis tune is Suspicious Minds.

Although I don't think the guy ever came out with a bad song. Elvis has been the king for fifty years, and will continue to be for the next 50, and then the next 50 after that.

Noone can replace what Elvis was, he laid the tracks for so many Artists today.

I mean, Elvis was tripped out and packing heat when he went to see the President one day. Since he was the king, they let him in to see the President and was given an honorary badge to fight drugs in America. All this while he still hand the gun on him, yeah Elvis was the king.

At the end, Elvis was certainly "out to lunch". I mean he was found dead on the toilet while eating! Not exactly hygienic. But when it comes to Elvis' influence in music, he was, indeed, the King.

Elvis had a wonderful voice and an unforgettably original singing style. His influence on Rock and Roll is indelible. He bridged the gap between "black music" and "white music" and, thereby, made real "rock and roll" accessible to everyone.

One of my "secret desires" is to, one day, visit Graceland while totally immersed in the Elvis subculture. You know, I'd wear the big belt buckle, comb back and grease my hair while spending the time trying to talk like Elvis....."thank you.....thankyouverymuch"

the benevolent tyrant has left the building.

I have no argument to John Lennon's ability.
