These IQ scores are more than three standard deviations apart. No one would expect parity of achievement between two students whose abilities vary so much.

Who is at fault? Oh boy, that's a tough question. Some would say the parents, others society, still others would blame the school, or whatever facility the rampages took place in...schools, post offices, etc...the supervisors should have noticed something. I am sure that someone else will come up with still more reasons...

How about the guy who pulled the trigger.

Lots of kids grow up in poor neighborhoods.
Lots of kids grow up and didn't see their parents.
maybe not enough attention from mommy
maybe daddy touched him in wierd ways
maybe he like many kids anymore feel self pitty and think the whole world is against them so they will take everyone out on his own way out..

Does it matter? So many kids grow up !@$ up and they DONT kill people in a blaze of gunfire!???

It is his fault, his alone, he may have crappy parents, maybe his teachers thought he should get all F's because he never showed up, and he took it as a personal insult. Maybe a girl thought he had a friggin messed up hair cut, dark depressing clothing, so she wouldn't go out with him.. maybe he had a girl friend who wouldn't put out so out of sexual frustration wanted to kill people... in the end it comes down to he made the decision to murder as many people as possible. You cannot deny that, you cannot change that, and we have a society where we do not blame the killer, we blame everything else, as excuses as to why he killed.

He murdered. He will go to hell. Because he made that choice.

I know, Grady, sounds crazy, but from what I've read 100% of students must be at or above proficiency by 2012. The student with the 65IQ is expected to work harder to catch up. ?

Hell, I agree with you on it. But as you should of noticed, this thread has been about discussing the effects of the outside environment. Look, we already know he is to blame but we are discussing the validity of the argument that parents, environment, education system, etc. are to blame.

Also we are looking at the profiles of these individuals and how strong of one can be created.

So since we already know how you feel about the individual, do you think their environment has contributed?

More importantly, can the education system can be adjusted to help prevent these shootings. Metal detectors and police on site are not answers we are looking for.

Was anyone lucky enough to catch the episode on tonight of Cold Case on CBS?

The 1995 case involving two teenage boys who committed suicide after going on a murderous rampage at the local mall is re-opened when evidence shows there may have been a third shooter. TV14-DSV

The two shooters involved fit the profile 100%. Two smart youth students who in their parents eyes were just like everyone else. They had a fascination with a first-person shooting video game that they took alittle too far.

They were picked on by the so called Jocks of the school, and they opened fire in the local mall killing them and then anyone in site. It was like every school shooting in the last decade, only a behind the scenes ticket to it.

As often, the big factor to this was bullying within the school.

The few survivors of the shooting who had bullied the shooters were shown years later and they blamed nobody but themselves. The thought of the bullying had brought them to tears when they thought of the lives that were lost.

I would love to hear of someone else who had seen this episode tonight.
