Is it Osama or Usama? or are they the same. I seem to remeber it being Osama back in the day?

Arabic has a different alphabet and sounds than we do, so converting it is imprecise and there are several different ways to spell an Arabic word using the Latin alphabet, so I guess they're both right and wrong at the same time

I think the CIA started calling him Osama because they were making his paychecks out to Tim Osman. Now I guess it's done by direct deposit.

Actually the U.S. gov't has always used the "U" spelling to my knowledge, as well as FOX News. Most other news outlets use "O".
