Why does everything have to be moderated?

IS the stereo type of Moderators true?

I am fortunate enough not to have been attacked on this website but I have been attacked on other websites by angry mobs.

It doesnt take long for an angry mob of chaters to dispatch a fellow human being and devoure them like canibal chickens...

Other chat rooms I go in that are well moderated have 10 moderators. People cant make a life long comitments to baby sit for free. People here 5 or ten of them cant be trusted to moderated the chat room?

What the hell is going on here?

If you cannot control yourselves, chat will be disabled.

Conspiracys on conspiracy sites only leed to coverups.

That's just default text always fixed at the top of the chat queue. It's just a text reminder for everyone to be cool. No on is actually typing at you. Think of it as a primtive java scroll bar reminder.

To answer your first question:
The 'chat room' is moderated.......whether a mod happens to visit and chat in it or not....read between the lines.

Second question:
Moderators are doing a great job here. Issues arise and they are remedied....if not....William will become involved, be assurd of that.
Moderators do more than you think.
Moderators moderate.
Moderators keep whinning and crying to a minimal.
Moderators keep the board 'clean'......
List goes on....moderators, on any successful board are a 'necessity.'

Why not a u2u to William or a Super Moderator that you "can trust"?

You are making and insinuating a number of things here based on other boards that would be quite hazardous and along the same lines of: "steroetyping".
Comparing one board to another is not a fair comparison, especially when one has really 'no' clue as to "how" a particular board(s) is run or operated. You may see what is on the surface but you do not see what is going on behind the scenes........

I guess, all-in-all, I'm failing to see nor understand your point and your argument.

Someone typed it. Someone meant it. If you can not behave yourselves. The chat room is gone.

Someone wouldnt have posted the chat room topic if the didnt mean it.

And while I am probably not as good with MySQL and PHP as William. I am a damn good IT person. Better than any FED here. I dont buy my junk from Compaq, HP or some other company.

I built all MY hardware and ISOs in my basement. I put my own office equipment together and ran all the 120 lines and phone line myself. I didnt pay some 2 bit chump to do it for me. I have here on my desk. About 5 different versions of windows, linux and BSD. Everything else I need at my fingertips. I worked part time at a grocery store to pay for college. I didnt have mommy and daddy pay for all my education. I had to work for it and take the time to actually read a book or write a report for school.

Not to jump in, but why are you defending your status as an IT person. You don't need to post your resume, or put down any other non-technical 2 bit chumps or FEDs that happen to read and or post on this board. And "duh" is sophmoric at best. Your question was answered. Move along.

Okay well with that said I motion the chat be disabled.

I don't think it should be disabled..and don't really care if it's moderated or not. I don't really have a problem either way. If someone is just flat out degrading someone else in chat then it only makes sense it be moderated otherwise it turns into a big mess. If someone can be themselves and maintain respect and maturity then maybe overtime there won't need to be a *father* or *mother* observing the exchanging of words there..

Just a thought..

1) we assume our members are mature, until proven otherwise.
2) any staff member has the ability to moderate chat
3) the message is a reminder to all, and embarrassment to a few
