US ambassador To Au. Finally

Can anyone think of a reason why the US would take 18 months to appoint an ambassador to Australia? I have a sneaky suspicion that we here in Australia are seen as a puppet of the US government anyway so why bother !!

Seriously though,this has puzzled me too. Maybe George just talks to Johnny on that special secure video conference box they sent after 9/11 to make us feel safe. Maybe they just don't give a rat's arse. Maybe they don't need an ambassador. Let's see, American running major telco, long standing surveillance stations, the list goes on. maybe any diplomacy they want, they just take.
