ok this is a first for me, posting somthing that i have seen so dont abuse me if if somthing simple lol.
i have not long got home after a night out with friends when one turned to me and said aint those two planes flying close to each other. i looked and notied two planes flying in extremely close formation in the skys over the west midlands, heading in a south west direction.
im only posting this because iv never seen planes fly this close together this late at night.
the only details i can give about the planes is that they had flat wing tips possibly tornados but i dont have a clue about jets its just an interest.

Planes do often fly in formation. Paricularly millitary jets. How high up were they?, was there any noise?. Where abouts?. Are there any bases nearby. They aren't allowed to fly over urban areas at certain speeds or altitudes. Strange that they were flying so late. Maybe a night training sortee.

I dunno. How close is close? 24 feet? 24 inches? if it was really, really close it might have been a training sortie for a demonstration squadron. Can you describe the aircraft?

I tend to find that after a night out with the lads I often two of everything, except burberries which I normally see four of.

I think the only rational explanation is that they were US military jets ferrying secret supplies of McEwan's Export to be used in torture of undisclosed prisoners in undisclosed Uzebeck camps. It's a conspiracy I tell ya!

Nah its not McEwans Export its that even more lethal concocution called Buckfast tonic ...obviously the USAF are intending to use this hideous weapon in a pre-emptive strike on the Iranians forcing them to surrender in record time..

lol ur probly right, doing recon on me they have found me out oooooooh no.

they where quite high up at the time not as high as a passenger jet i dont think. if i had to giv a disace apart in the air id say 20 foot max they where getting very close. not going very fast tho thats why we couldnt decide if they where military.

That's what it was then!!I'm in Cov and also saw them, I was enjoying my nightly "smoke" and Looking around and there they were, quite a clear night too my friend?!

May I ask which area of west mids you live in and as precise time as you can remember, hopefully we'll be able to work out it's were they were heading, or at least a direction off travel!

Just for the record we do not usually get aircraft like that round here (i tend to watch out aircraft) Not like we did back up north & espically the lakes, I was in manchester airport once when an AWACS do two very very very low passes right over the top of the whole of the frickin airport. the whole place went silent.....but that is for another thread, another day...........BACK ON TOPIC(sorry for hijacking your thread jabamby)..........anyway it is rare to see that sort of plane in this area. Add to that that we or I most certainley live not far from Coventry Airport (Cargo & Passenger) & Birmingham Int is only ten miles to the north west. I didn't really think until you said about its height & speed!!!

Now for the interesting bit.... When i saw these two they were high & fast. I know the west mids is quite a big area and im almost sure we have no active Military Airfields in this area. So its not as if they were Take-off/Land. Why the difference in Speed & Alt!

Maybe its nothing but it was enough to make me take notice, even after a couple of S...........
