British holidaymakers staged an unprecedented mutiny - refusing to allow their flight to take off until two men they feared were terrorists were forcibly removed.

The extraordinary scenes happened after some of the 150 passengers on a Malaga-Manchester flight overheard two men of Asian appearance apparently talking Arabic.

I'm pretty shocked at this, the media hype must really be putting the [Mod Edit: Profanity/Circumvention Of Censors – Please Review This Link.] up some people.

It is not surprising at all.

With just about the only thing in the news for days as well as full shut downs of air traffic in England.

Considering how many musliums have been found trying to blow up planes, it was a very real concern.

That said, the two men and their luggage could have been completly checked and scanned to see that they had nothing dangerious or illegal with them.

That is just disgusting.

I believe this says it all:

Patrick Mercer, the Tory Homeland Security spokesman, said last night: "This is a victory for terrorists. These people on the flight have been terrorised into behaving irrationally.

Considering how many Muslims haven't been trying to blow up planes, the simple fact that someone is Muslim should not be a concern. As well, these people were harassed because they were 'Asian' and spoke an Arabic-sounding language, not because they were Muslim. Please get your facts straight. Most Muslims in the world do not even live in the Middle East. Thanks.

Apparently the two men were wearing jumpers and jackets despite the heat, they were also seen checking their watches and had beards.

What does this mean? Well it means paranoia folks. Good old mob rule in action, victory for the real terrorists and victory for the air of fear the Government spreads.

Mutiny as passengers refuse to fly until Asians are removed
Soon afterwards, the aircraft was cleared while police did a thorough security sweep. Nothing was found and the plane took off - three hours late and without the two men on board.

Yes, most Muslims do not-in pure numbers- do not live in the Middle East.

There are many countries like Pakistan-hey, that’s where the Muslim terrorist's that were going to blow up 10 British(?) civilian airliners heading to the US came from, wasn’t it???
They were going to blow them up in midflight in hopes of killing all aboard.

I call that a VERY good reason to fear them.

What other way is there to guage how many Muslims live in a given place except by "pure numbers"?

Even if the Middle East included Pakistan, most Muslims in the world wouldn't live in those countries.

I call that a VERY good reason to fear them.

First off, Pakistanis don't speak Arabic. Second, most, if not all, of those hijackers grew up in the UK. Third, if you fear an entire nation of people because a handful tried to blow up a plane, then that seems more of a personal problem not fit for this thread.
Do you fear all Americans too, considering that we have the most violent crime in the world?

Security experts profile possible "terrorists" based upon a range of criteria, not because they are muslim. This incident was in fact meant to terrorize those 'Asian' men because some ignorant people think that if you are non-white and speak Arabic, you must be a terrorist. Ironic.

I am sure that the perpetrators of 9/11 also passed security vetting in place at that time, but of course they had identified a way of circumventing the checks then current.

The only way we will find out how these terrorists have discovered flaws in current security checks is when something very bad happens again, as it very likely will.

Sadly, until Muslims in the UK are shown on TV news unreservedly condemning Muslim terrorists instead of sympathising with their actions, then this sort of thing will continue.

There are probably quite a lot of clips where Muslims condems terrorists but they are not shown often enough. I guess fear sells better.

I can't really blame them...no matter how irrational the fear may seem to others, if I had such a fear I would refuse to board the plane too. It appears even the pilot was convinced these men were a threat and without a pilot, there's no flight.

I think that's what people are questioning dj, is how they manage to have such an irrational fear of 'Asian' men.

If I saw any Asians acting suspiciously I would ask them to be kicked off the plane. These people shouldnt be allowed anywhere near a plane!

A victory for the terrorists? I beg to differ! It's not the "terrorists" filling peoples minds to overload point with constant over-hyped fear and sensationalism. That is the job of the government and the compliant press and they would appear to have been successful.

This is a very sad situation indeed

In a way, they were terrorists. The media has hyped up terrorist attacks, all it would take to effectively terrorise would two nervous looking Asian men onboard a flight. People would panic, setting up long delays.

The Asian looking men were innocent and did absolutely nothing wrong, yet effectively the media terrorised the passengers causing set backs.

People acting suspicously, fine. To make such distinctions without a just, dare I say *logical*, cause is just plain silly. I mean, what difference does it make what color their skin is??

The part that gets me -- even after the plane was searched, the people were still forced off the plane... wtf is this society coming to? Even after being shown that there was nothing to harm anyone, they insist that the people be removed. It's absolutely ludicrous.. and seriously messed up.

And here I thought the days of the witch hunts were done...
But, no.. the pointy hats and warted noses were traded in for something else.. and the hunt continues.

Well it is a sad state that people seemed to over react over the situation.

I don't know if I understand their behavior but again I was not there. I would hate to condemn people based on their poor fashion sense and nationality.

Does anyone know if Sam Jackson was on the flight?

Because if he jumped up and shouted "I am sick of these Mutha Effing Asians on this Mutha Effing Plane!" That might throw a bunch of englishmen into a panic.

Congratulations for being habituated into this diversion of blame unto average Muslims who are not in any way connected to terrorism; not only does this place blame upon innocents, it streamlines from those guilty parties and ideals such as U.S foriegn policy and this molestation of the public by linguisticaly manipulative media agencies. This only reflects a marginal aspect of western society that would react in such an unreasoned fashion and towards a group of people that too have a minority equaly acting in such unreasoned fashions, however, what we are seeing is the sensationalization of these events as reflective of more than the marginalized members of society and this is proving detrimental.

Muslims condone terrorism by their silence just as we condone illegal wars and a number of war crimes by our silence and indifference.
