Yesterday, Iran has begun large scale military exercise, that is supposed to last for about five weeks. I've seen only a short clip of it on TV. There were high-altitude parachute jumps, helicopter and aircraft attacks, and man-portable SAMs. Surface to surface missiles with 80-250 km range were also used. They have some of the older american hardware - AH-1 Cobra and CH-47 Chinook could be seen on this clip.

As soon as I find some more detailed info on this subject, I'll update thread with links.

It is basically an exercises that serves the folloing purposes:
1- Prepare the army/Navy/Airforce for an attack by the US/israel.
2- Be a show of 'strength' as the UN uranium enrichment deadline comes on August 22nd.
3- Pull Iranian public support.
4- 'scare-off' would be attackers.

Let them exercise all they want it won't help. When the day of attack comes, if they refuse to stop their nuclear ambitions, the only excersices that will help is running exercises.

this exercise won't strike fear in anyone. It will give the US ammo to future agression. The US would crush Iran in a conventional war. It wont be as easy as the conventional war in Iraq. And I'm guessing the US wouldn't try to occupy Iran, theres far too many people there, and its bigger than Iraq. It would be suicide.

and here comes the the US will crush Iran, let em come
funny how arm chair generals speak,

Iran isnt Iraq

1. it has a airforce that is capible of flying and fighting
2. it has a navel fleet that can cause havoc for the US with its fast attack boats with anti ship missiles.
3. they arent arabs who run for the hills like the Iraqis did
4. their infentry are armed better then that of Iraq with some state of the art weapons,

also they havent been under sanctions from the UN so they have got some nice toys from russia and china

if the US attacks it will face a fight (even so they will win with firepower)
they will lose loads of US personale in the process.

if Israel attack they can expect Iran to lob every missile at them they have and with the sheer size of israel, well it wont be a pretty picture.
also they can target the israeli nuclear reactor.

All of the above plus:

U.S. Special Forces has prepositioned nukes all over Iran to be triggered by an Israeli satellite but attributed to Israeli fighters.

Death and destruction will be much higher than anticipated particularly within U.S. Forces everywhere in the Middle East.

Iran will make sure the Straits of Hormuz are blocked forcing oil to be piped to Yanbu and out the Red Sea. Gas will be $10 a gallon at the pumps in 30 days after the attack.

It a big job spreading freedom and democracy but...somebody's got to do it.

I am a great fan of your work and wouldn't want to shun your knowledge but as Bodrul stated above- how do you know this? Or are you merely speculating that this is the likely scenario of possible things to come?

Do you have a source(s] giving this information? Your aviation history is absolutely outstanding- but I didn't think you'd have knowledge on such intimate 'facts'?

Do you think the above is related to 22/8?

No bodrul, not being phycastic. My understanding from friends 'in the business' is we (U.S) have placed the nukes in strategic locations in and around facilities known or suspected to be involved in the manufacture of nuclear weapons. Since the U.S. doesn't want to take the blame for using nukes they gave the triggers to the Israelis who are only too happy to oblige. They are waiting for 'just the right outrage' to be commited by Iran, Hezbollah, Arab terrorists, or any one acting on their behalf. We (the U.S.) will show the world what Islamic terrorists are capable of even if we have to perform those acts ourselves.

if this is true then the US is the biggest threat to the world

also each nuke used has its own signiture which would trace back to the united states, how would they cover that up?

Spreading freedom and democracy is a tough, lonely and thankless job.

WHAT? OUR OWN NUKES? Those darn Israelis! They not only stole our technology to build the nukes, they stole the darn nukes themselves. We'll give 'em a couple of billion dollars and send them to bed without any dinner! Thats what we'll do!

this kind of reminds me of the quote in starwars

What if the democracy we thought we were serving no longer exists, and the Republic has become the very evil we have been fighting to destroy?

just replace republic/empire with united states

I've done some research on Iranian armed forces. Globalsecurity seems to be a good source. They (Iran) have lots of US hardvare, including some F-14 Tomcat along with AIM-54 Phoenix missiles.

Army

Navy

Interesting data, isn't it?
