Renowned Chinese attorney Gao Zhisheng was kidnapped on August 15 by several plainclothes policemen while visiting his critically-ill brother-in-law at his sister's home in Dongying City, Shangdong Province. This was confirmed after contact with Gao had been lost for 24 hours as all communication channels were cut off by the Chinese Communist Party authorities, and by verification from other sources.

I know that the title of your thread is based in what that article says, but if they were authorities, what makes this a kidnap instead of a "normal" (for China) arrest?

ccp has kidnapped many innocent persons illegally, ccp has kidnapped the govenment, the authorities to do the evil.
These kind of kidnapping crimes are not based on normal laws.
So, ccp is kidnapping innocent persons.

Oh, the trial took place already and it was considered innocent? OK.
CHINA – The trial of blind Chinese human rights activist, Mr. Chen Guangcheng was scheduled for August 18. On the 17th, his defending lawyers, Xu Zhiyong, Zhang Lihui and Li Fangping were charged with theft and arrested by the police. All of them were detained at Jiehu police station. Zhang Lihui and Li Fangping were released after two hours of interrogation. Xu Zhiyong is still in custody.
Attorney Gao Zhisheng was secretly arrested by the authorities on the 15th. Renowned Chinese lawyers Zhang Jiankang and Li Heping said that this is a large scale operation carried out by the Chinese Communist regime. They expressed their strong protests against the arrests of Gao Zhisheng as well as Chen Guangcheng's lawyers, and urged international community to pay close attention to the Chinese Communist regime's latest movements.

Now you direct me to an article about the trial of Chen Guangcheng. In that article they say also that Xu Zhiyong, Zhang Lihui and Li Fangping were arrested and Xu Zhiyong is still in custody.
I thought that this thread was about the "kidnapping" of Gao Zhisheng, but it can also be a thread about the Human Rights situation in China. If that is the case, then I think that another thread specifically about that would be better.
Mr. Guo said that Gao's arrest this time was either an attempt by the Chinese communist regime to settle old debts or to sound things out. But this move will certainly provoke people's anger all over the world and bring about an "unprecedented scale" of rescue and democratic movement tide. Following is the conversation between the reporter and Mr Guo.

Right, Gao is one of the innocent persons who have been arrested, but there are a lot more.
Gao Zhisheng is one of the lawyers of Chen Guangcheng, so it is connected.

Who says they are innocent? The media or the judicial system?

Then why do they say:

Doesn't that mean that Gao Zhisheng isn't one of Chen Guangcheng's lawyers?

Also, I started to notice even more that those articles are not what we could call independent, so I will stop using that site as a reference for this type of news.
