US Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was in Pittsburgh today to address the World Affairs Council. While speaking, he recalled memories of September 11th and referred to a stateless enemy hidden in American towns and stating that we must "continue to develop the tools we need to investigate their actions and intentions".

releases.usnewswire.com
I remember the morning of Sept. 11, 2001 as if it were yesterday. I did not lose a friend or loved one, nor was I nearby the World Trade Center towers or Pentagon as people died. But like so many others working in government that day, I am an American and I love my country.

And so the horrific images, the heroic stories of that day, and the days and weeks that followed still make me stop and shake my head in disbelief.

In a few weeks, we will mark the five-year anniversary of those attacks. During this period, our way of life has changed so much. Our children and grandchildren will grow up in a world much different than ours. With advances in technology, such as the Internet, change is natural, of course, among successive generations. But the most dramatic change is the nature of the enemy our country today faces -- a stateless enemy sometimes hidden and nurtured here in our neighborhoods, taking advantage of the very laws they mock with their killing and destruction, as a shield from detection and prosecution.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

He said the terrorists are "hidden and nurtured here in our neighborhoods" and that it's "essential that we continue to develop the tools we need to investigate their actions and intentions".

I see many problems with these statements.

First off, this tells me that they plan on eroding our constitution even further in the name of "fighting terrorism".

And, what happened to "Fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them over here"?

One would believe that if he were a real thinking man he would consider closing the U.S. Mexican border to eliminate the possibility of terrorists walking across with all their equipment. Although it might make his family reunions a little harder to have.

I think MANY things Gonzalez has said lately are some of the most frightening things I've heard this administration openly advocate.

American is dying a death of a thousand slices... :shk:

This guy should SHUT UP. A lot of people who are not aware of anything believe him, you know, the 35% of people who are STILL supporting Bush? Supporting this administration that are killing our constitution? They are morans! And they can vote!

I think it's the 1000th scare-mongering speech or news from this administration to push their fascist War On Consitution.

Actually they don't vote..... Well they do just not for him, they rather spend their time voting for useless crap like American Idol.

Oh well what are we going to do, a few people know this is bs, but you think the masses are going to listen to a few idiots on the Internet?? Probably not.

Anyway at least some of the sheep are starting to fall for the flock and starting to grow their own brain.

The People are already in a state of semi-panic over all of the other rights that have been taken away. How much more do "they" think "they" can get without the People getting so ticked about it that they do something?

I think "they" forget who "they" are representing. "They" need to remember that We The People put them there, and We The People can have them removed from power with the swift checking motion of a pen(cil)/mouseclick on a ballot.

But, if history is any indication, this is the beginning of the end of the Republic version of the US, and the genesis of a new, more powerful Imperial America. If this should happen, then the freedoms that We The People have enjoyed for the previous 230 years will have been for nought. I fear for when that day comes, that We will no longer have a voice, and the time to change it will have long passed.

I don't know the best way to change it, but I know that everyone must be vigilantly looking for those that intend to do us harm, especially those that claim that they have our best intentions at heart. They are the ones we must watch the closest.

That is a worrying statement, it really appears that the intention was to spread uneasiness among the people and to turn the people into government agents spying on their neighbours.

I usually try not to see statements like these as worrying, but this time it truly reminded me of the mentality that ruled Portugal during the dictatorship, when we could not speak freely because we didn't know who was listening and what their intentions were.

Sensitive topics were only discussed behind closed doors and only in front of the closest family members or friends, suspicion was everywhere, any problem or antipathy between neighbours or co-workers could end in a visit from the authorities after an "anonymous tip".

If this mentality gets a foothold on the US, then they have a BIG problem, the loss of freedom not the government but to anyone who can be an "anonymous source".

Here boys and girls. This is what he may have been talking about. Try it read it all.

Did any of you see this on the major news media?

Also read the book " The Third Terorist" to have a understanding of who did the planing and helped in the OKC bombing.

You have voted Roper for the Way Above Top Secret award.

Let's not forget the other terrorists in recent US history.

Nice people like:

The Symbionese Liberation Army

The Weathermen

The Puerto Rican group FALN.

Just to name a few. Anyone who doesn't believe that there are terrorist organizations right here in the US is extremely ignorant or probably figures that if you ignore them they might just go away.

When I hear the word Gonzales I just remember The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and the Goofy face mister G made, when senataor McCain was asking him some Tough Questions along with a long, Long Pause to Re-Think his reply.

Now that is a Face You can NOT Forget!

Daily Show skewers Rumsfeld, Gonzales, Rice

On the topic:
YES! I agree there are Terrorists in American Towns - most of them can be found in Washington, near the White House and the Pentagram; oops, I mean Pentagon.

Gonzales speaks for his boss (whoever that may be) and his words and actions have slowly eroded our spirit as a free nation...
If he had one ounce of honor, he would check his own facts, instead of parroting some propagandists...
Anyone can see with simple logic, that the action that we are undertaking right now, is making more terrorists, than destroying them...

also:

It is already well known that the OKC bombing was an agent provacateur situation gone wrong...
The FBI is still holding documents from the testimony of their undercover agent... the one that tried to whisleblow, and unveil the long term operation to bring down Elohim city (aryan stronghold) thru a setup of busting them for the very same bombing... too bad they forgot to follow all the visitors that came thru also... (Mcvey was inspired by the very plan the FBI introduced...)

the OKC bombing.

Like many of those called terrorists in the ME, those that did the okc bombing were trained by the US government with the technical skills to detonate explosives. US government training seems to be a consistent characteristic of those that the government calls terrorists. Another common characteristic is that the explosives used by these people usually comes labeled "Made In The USA".

Is government afraid of small town americans that have received military training?

This is extremely frightening. :shk:

They live among us. They work with us. They are everywhere. I hope everyone realizes the connotations of what Gonzales says.

:shk: We're well on our way to the Police State. But the borders remain open.
Unbelievable, folks.

I'm beginning to realize something...

Notice all the talk- and qualifier- about terrorist fascists?

...but not a peep about fascism in general... I suppose because it is so closely aligned to the fear ideology spouted by this administration.

Do any of you remember the fear the Clinton Adm. spread?

Some of you are worried about at police state right, well do you remember Waco?

Do you remember the Clinton Adm. going into the low rent housing and looking for guns? Do poor people not have the right to self defense? What race is living in these types of housing? People of color, right? Isn't it racist to disarm these people?

No-knock raids by law enforcement were rampant during the Clinton Adm. and several were at the wrong address killing innocent people.

That wasn't a Republican President and Congress, that was Democrat.

You find a Politician that is for gun control, you have found your Fascist.

So? ( EDIT: Oh, and just to be clear, for most of those eight years, it was a Republican Congress... Not that any of that is relevant to this discussion. )

Possibly the only thing we might agree upon.

Your point? ...that what is happening now is justified by what has happened then?

I should make it clear that when I say Congress I am speaking of both Houses.

Now let me make something else clear. I am a Democrat have been for a long time.

I am not a Communist, Socialist or Fascists.

So Loam, you want a point?

I feel safer with my liberties now that I did under Clinton.

BTW A big, bureaucratic government suck the big one. This has been going on for a long time thanks to FDR.

I'm very glad you see it this way. You should feel safe. Look around you, we are on the brink of the Apocalypse, and you feel safe. Personally, i had a good feeling when Clinton was president. I'd give anything in the world to bring back those days. But you're entittled. Enjoy all that is happening!!! Have fun!!! This can only happen once in 20 lifetimes!!!
Safety in exchance for peace and freedom...oh yes...... and lies in exchange for terror. Life just doesnt get any better.
