The sad thing is that Midnight had plans to release a solo album, All Souls Midnight, announced last year.but he sadly died ..top-notch metal singer that never got the real praise he deserved....He died of kidney failure..now he sings to the angels..peace,sugarcookie1

VNV Nation has managed to give a 17 year old the inspiration to continue a story meant to show more than what the human spirit can do, but what it cannot as well. Nothing can ever be perfect, and VNV Nation is one of the few bands out there that can capture the essence of that wisdom nearly perfectly..

Funny you woudl say that.

The Noose was written not as a sad song, but as an uplifting song.

It's about not forgetting where you came from after overcomign incredible hardships. The Noose, is actually the ego of accomplishment.

I met maynard once back in the 90's. Needless to say, he's to me, the greatest musician ever.

I disagree,

Maynards friend found God, he is happy for her, but regardless of the rebirth, Maynard believes that she will not

be able to amend her past , she will not be able to reconcile with her departed friends.

He disagrees with spiritual tithing.

Maynard would disagree.

The meaning of the song was discussed in an article in Rolling STone from a while back while he was touring with APC.

I think it could also be about a murderer or other criminal who has 'repented' and is now supposedly a good person and this song asks how they will repay those who have been harmed, killed, effected by them in the past which they now ignore.

Love or trust lost due to lies that were told. Therefore the feelings or trust are now "dead" and the person singing the song is asking how the recovering addict is going to go about "making your amends to the dead".

I watched the aMOTION DVD with Maynard's commentary on and when the music video for this song came on he said that he went to an AA meeting with one of his friends and one of the guys who was sharing said "Don't let you halo fall and choke you to death." and that's how he got the idea for the song
