Two FOX News journalists, one an American producer and one a cameraman, were kidnapped at gunpoint today in Gaza. according to Al-Jazeera.

No group has claimed responsibility, and Hamas has condemned the kidnapping.

What could be the purpose of this kidnapping?

The two journalists are correspondent Steve Centanni and freelance cameraman Olaf Wiig, Fox News said.

As in Fox News? As in THE Fox News?

I feel bad for the kidnapped journalists and I hope they're rescued... but there's some irony in there somewhere.

Maybe the kidnappers have satelite, and see how much crap is spread on FOX news, so they decided to kidnap the reporters to stop spreading lies about the middle east conflict.

Honestly who knows, its weird for you to use Al Jazeera for a source. Im sure if anyone else used it as a souce to go agaisnt your views you would call it 'biased terroist news' but when it suits your agenda your more than willing to use Al Jazeera.

Im not taking this as real news untill i see it on a few other sources first.

It seems to have been happening alot, though so far all have been released unharmed.

source

Security officials put police on alert across Gaza and set up roadblocks to find the gunmen and free the reporters, Interior Ministry spokesman Khaled Abu Hilal said. "This is not acceptable at all," he said.
The Committee to Protect Journalists called for the men to be freed.
"We are gravely concerned about our colleagues' safety and call for their immediate and unconditional release," said executive director Joel Simon. "These are well-established journalists who are not participants in the conflict. They should be treated accordingly and freed."
Several foreigners have been kidnapped in Gaza in recent months with their abductors demanding jobs from the Palestinian Authority or the release of people from Palestinian jails. All those kidnapped have been freed within hours without harm.

And lets not pretend that only the palestinians mess with journalists shall we.

source

Wail Tanous was filming Al-Jazeera anchorwoman Guevara Albudeiri live in the northern West Bank city of Nablus early Wednesday afternoon when an Israeli military jeep pulled up and rammed the anchorwoman in the middle of her broadcast. The soldiers then proceeded to shoot the cameraman, Wail Tanous, in the leg. He was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently being treated, local sources reported.

Faten Al-Wan, a reporter with Al Hurrah television, was also shot Wednesday by Israeli soldiers in Nablus. Dr. Ghassan Handa, head of the Medical Relief in Nablus, reported that Al-Wan was injured by a rubber-coated bullet and transferred to a hospital in Nablus.

Yes, firebat, the one and only. Steve Centanni is a well-known, respectable journalist.

That was a coarse and classless statement, wang.

Don't even pretend to know me, wang. Right away you attempt to minimize this because it doesn't suit your agenda.

Grow up.

I'm sure its real. I read it on haaretz earlier today as well. I would imagine they will be released soon. It won't help them if they don't release them soon.

And with HAMAS being the upstanding organization that they are, this surprises whom?

Yeah especially since Israel kidnapped an entire Government.

Its kind of hard to judge anymore who the terrorists are exactly.

I for one thought it was funny. As long as you didn't mean it, right?

*serious note* My prayers are with those kidnapped.

If you read my post you will see it was a joke.....thats why it had
at the end of that staement

Then i said, "honestly who knows"

I dont know you at all, but from what i do know of you from your posts is that your "right winged" as you stated in another thread. So for the fact that you are using Al Jazeera to me is weird. Thats all i was trying to point out.

I am not trying to minimize this news what so ever, but again as i said if Al Jazeera is the only souce for this news, its not news to me. As other memembers have stated now it has been reported by other news agencies, it is a big story.

I do hope that both reporters do make it out safe, and that the people behind this are discoverd and bought to justice.

Why shouldnt a "right winger" look at the al jazeera network? I think most folks want to be informed and that means gathering news from as many sources as possible whether you are "right", "left" or whatever.

Fair enough but then dont accuse others of using a biased source if it is used against you in a debate, as i think some have on other threads, not you personally btw.

Al Jazeera has been viewed as a worthless source on this froum for along time on this forum. It has been attacked by the all people, as a biased and unrealiable source, that does not mean a rightie cant visit and read Al Jazeera but i dont think it should be used on this forum as a crediable source for information by anyone. I was just pointing out it is 'weird' for someone who does lean to the right to use Al Jazeera as a source about FOX reporters being kidnapped. Why didnt he find a FOX article about this? It is their reporters.

What makes you think I have any obligation to you to justify which source I use?

Al Jazeera has been accused as being biased. They are. So is FOX News. Only a closed mind would exclude using a source because it is biased.

And as far as this

I don't remember ever sayng I was "right winged". Please point out where I said that. I do admit to being conservative in my views. So what?

Maybe we need a "short list" of acceptable sources?
I wonder what that list would look like?

I think FOX is dissed as often as Al Jazeera.
Either can be a good source.

Anyway, I only wish the safest outcome for Mr. Centanni, and his Cameraman, Olaf.

Or maybe the terrorists are tired of Fox News reporting the cold hard reality of truth and showing the world who islamos really are...unlike the vast majority of news networks that sympathize with the islamos.

Good one Whaaa..

It's weird..
I watch most of the networks available.
But, probably because of my political leanings, I tend to "know" the Fox reporters more than others, on other networks. It could be that, or it could be that the banter between
the hosts of shows, and the reporters on duty.
Fox seems to humanize their reporters more than the other networks.
So It almost seems personal, that Centanni was kidnapped.

They all seem to me like mindless robots who just channel the BS on through from the government, straight to clueless Americans who take everything they hear as fact.

"Government sources say..."

LOL.

I've occasionally flipped through and stayed on the channel long enough to catch some of their morning programs... utter non-sense. I understand how you could get the impression that they seem more personal etc. I get the same impression... but they are all identical to the same kinds of people who listen to their crap in the first place... it's just one big machine that feeds itself its own lies. I get the feeling that half of FOX's people are too clueless to wake up and the other half are paid by Bush's government, if not directly controlled by them.
