Fellow thinkers
As I have watched V for Vendetta now for the second time, I was also searching for people who are looking for a common sense with movies like Fight
Club or Lost. Thank you for you interesting thoughts.
At the end of the day, I saw V and Fight Club as signs of our generation, let's say they have the goal to show policy makers that there is a hidden
force out there. Not as a threat or a realistic future, but as a hint for the audience that they do have power over the ruling system, if necessary.
My favorite line in the movie is:
V for Vendetta: "People shouldn't be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of their people."
It is no surprise that we are touched by movies like that. They inspire us in many ways. Of course I see the CCTV cameras every day. It is not that we
have to be scared of a police state, it is just that we have to be aware that possibility remains. A functioning state lives between extremes, let's
say between hardcore pro-state lobbyists and left-wingers who see control of the state on every corner.
Thank God I'm Swiss, but still, remember remember... The power of the masses shall keep the powerholders on the ground.
Thanks for listening, R.
