Yes we will, but hopefully far less than today. Many of the world's products are made from, or use, petroleum. It is relatively cheap and very
effective. It will be around for a long time, but we should definitely stop using it in vehicles, and perhaps altogether as a combustion agent.
That's my opinion, of course.
I hope that in 20-50 year, Nanotech will finally become useful and widespread. We'll have less expensive recycling techniques so that people
actually WANT to recycle (hopefully). And I hope we are building a colony on the moon... and by "we" I mean anyone who is willing, no matter what
country or organization.
In reality, that's probably more like 100-150 years away, because human politics run VERY, VERY SLOW. I can dream, though.
