security in airports

why does it suck so much?
i mean when people return from holidays and so forth land from the plane and just go through one check (passport) and walk out no check on luguage and so forth,
so if they just arrived from a country with corrupt officials they could easily bring in weapons.drugs and so on,

If a person has a bomb in their luggage, and doesn't set it off, then they're not trying to blow up a plane, which is what airport security is trying to prevent.

They could set it off in the terminal, of course, but heck, they could come from another country and hijack a plane as it lands anyway.
