Saad Bin Laden in Lebanon

Osama Bin Laden's son, Saad Bin Laden, has reportedly been released from "house arrest" in Iran and sent to Lebanon to assist Hezbollah in their battle with Israel.

Iran has freed a son of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden from house arrest, a German newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Die Welt said the Iranian Revolutionary Guard released Saad bin Laden on July 28 with the aim of sending him to the Syria-Lebanon border. It linked the reported move to the outbreak of war between Israel and Lebanese-based Hizbullah.

"From the Lebanese border, he has the task of building Islamist terror cells and preparing them to fight together with Hizbullah," Die Welt said, quoting intelligence information.

Supposedly Iran holds al Qaeda in low regard, and holds them in Iran until they can find a use for them.

This brings an interesting new twist to this conflict.

If they wanted to be associated with Al-queda they could have done that a long time ago when they were asked to fight in Iraq along with them , which they declined. I doubt they will involve themselves with it. More attempts at villification through association. Israel is trying hard to see american blood spill in their mess.
What could this idiot bring to the table? Unless he's giving them some weapons they don't seem to need his help.

They didn't join them in Iraq because they don't fight their own wars - they do it via proxy, as we have found out with Hezbollah.

Last week, al-Zawahri called for muslims everywhere to join in the Lebanese conflict against the Israelis. Using Saad is part of that, to encourage al Qaeda members to become Iranian proxies.
