Alcoholism as a social scourge

Does your nation have an unhealthy attitude to alcohol? What can be done to tackle binge drinking and alcohol abuse, in your opinion? Do you have good examples of combat strategies from your own area?

Hmmmmmmm.

Well, for one, its a cultural issue. Binge drinking and bad behavior must be made uncool and unacceptable by the people. Peer pressure works wonders.

Also, nastier, heavier penalties for disruptive, criminal drunken behavior.

And perhaps a few more cops patrolling those areas that are packed with bars.

And of course, closing down bars and nightclubs that are repeat problem offenders and do not police their customers very well.
