Yeah torontolime is a sweet site as well...

There's another one called smallislandmassive.com. Mostly St Maarten, VI, Antigua & other islands form that direct area. Which is my favorite kinds of soca .The jamback a little less though, because they've killed jamback here in Aruba. Bands that definately can't play it, try to play it... :shk:

Chutney Music.... this genre I would describe as Indian(bollywood)mixed with calypso/soca. Kind of like bhangra with a caribbean flavor. The songs themselves tend to be funny... I like to think of it drunk people dancing music...we're all over the floor when we get started with the chutney music especially at weddings...

Now why did that description make me think of Mango?

Has anyone ever been to Chere's on St. Martin? (the Dutch side?) They must have twenty musicans, at least 5-6 playing at one time. Anyone can slip in and do a set or two. Nice open air club right on the strip, with food too.

Ya'll have inspired me to have some jerk chicken for dinner tonight. There's peas and rice in the microwave and a pan of peppers roasting with the jerk.

Cocktails are Hurricane Sunsets. (Basically a melon ball with a shot of grenadine to spark it up ... little darlin')

No offense to all regaetton lovers... But I hate regaetton. It's always the exact same rhytm, which is derived from dancehall songs from the early 90's like murder she wrote. Regaetton was cool in the mid 90's with El General & Crypta, but after that it became stale.

Another one I often don't like is bubbling. It's mostly in Dutch or Papiamento and the same rhytm as reggaeton, but extremely fast.

Gimme de regular dancehall..

Btw.. Wisin & Yandel where here last weekend.. I didn't go of course. I didn't even know who they where before two weeks ago.

And check this out.. My hometown is featured heavily in this video. (Roger, the singer is also from here)

The video was shot about a 1/4 mile away from my house. You can see a very short shot of my former elementary school is at 1min51 secs.
