There are seven new human cases of the West Nile Virus, bringing the number of confirmed cases this year to 14, the Department of Health and Hospitals said Monday.
The cases came from Assumption Parish, St. Tammany Parish, Tangipahoa Parish, Washington Parish and West Baton Rouge Parish.
During this week in 2005 there were 26 confirmed cases and the highest year for the Virus was in 2002, with 329 cases.
Officials warn residents to remove standing water, secure windows and doors, and avoid perfumes or colognes when outside for long periods of time to avoid the West Nile Virus.

I thought that virus was pretty much eradicated anyway, or was I thinking of something else . . .
