Project MASCAL

Has anyone ever heard of it?

Apparently, members from various emergency response teams conducted a mock Mass Casualty project codenamed MASCAL. Toy trucks and miniature figurines were used to map out evasive transportation paths for victims in preparation of possible attacks on the Pentagon as a result of hijacked passenger planes!

And yet Condoleezza Rice, under oath in testimony, repeatedly asserted that "no one ever imagined" a domestic airplane could be used as a weapon against U.S targets of interest. Here's visual proof of a right hand for those who suffer from memory lapses..

there was a mock terrorist incident as well, but not on a plane

and there was a construction accident as well.

and being there are TWO airports next to the pentagon...is it suprising to you they had an airplane crash as one of multiple exercises?

As Blatant said, while it WAS a plane crash, it was an ACCIDENT, not a hijacked plane flown into the building. The approach path for one runway for a DC airport (sorry, can't remember which right now) goes directly over one corner of the Pentagon. It's not surprising they had crash drills there at all. But that's all they were. Nothing at all about a hijacking.

Air Florida, Flight 90, took off from Washington National Airport (now Ronald Reagan National Airport), and crashed into the 14th street bridge, just over a half mile or so from the Pentagon on January 13, 1982. There is one runway that the approach is almost directly over the Pentagon.

So the MASCAL (Mass Causalty) drill was planned in response for a similar crash, albeit one into the Pentagon instead of into the river.

You know what?.. I did confuse two separate drills that were carried out under project MASCAL; one an accidental plane crash in to the Pentagon, and the other, an unspecified terrorist attack on the Pentagon. Of course, back in the year 2000, terror attack, passenger air plane and the Pentagon had absolutely nothing in common.

To be honest, I'm a little surprised in the lack of interest at ATS over project MASCAL. Someone must find it peculiar having the Pentagon conduct a contingency plan to handle MASS CASUALTIES following a passenger air plane crash.

There was a MASCAL drill which involved a terrorist-caused explosion at the Pentagon, to test Fort Belvoir's first responders. Project MASCAL really gets interesting once you look into it. I really think we have something here.

Matt Rosenberg, a Pentagon medic, was READING the MASCAL plans about a plane crash just hours before the pentagon strike. Now, one may look at this bizarre 'coincidence' and say 'Why would a Pentagon Medic have any kind of foreknowledge?'.. Rosenberg was on the phone with the FBI about the plane crash scenario the day before. Is it possible that they may have given him the 'heads up'?

The MASCAL equipment was conveniently all ready to go and out of the storage areas because of an 'inventory check'. Major Lorie A. Brown, Chief Nurse Of DiLorenzo TRICARE health clinic, stated of this strange 'coincidence':

We actually had our MASCAL equipment out of the storage areas because we were doing an inventory. So there were many pieces that just fell into place and worked so well on that day.

A Pentagon rescuer had even stated how eerie it was that the exercise was so much like the real event.

Some confusion here.
200 MASCAL drill - interesting. More interesting yet is two later drills, one run, one rejected.
April 2001: Acc. to a former NORAD official, NORAD "wanted to develop a response in the event that a terrorist group would use an airliner as a missile to attack the Pentagon, but the Joint Chiefs of Staff rejected the scenario as "too unrealistic."

Having scuttled plans to practice intercepting such an unseen threat...

May 2001: Medical response drill at the Pentagon about the aftermath of an "ersatz guided missile in the form of a hijacked 757 airliner." All aftermath - as US Medicine reported, there was "no capability in place to protect the Pentagon" from this threat.

Some evidence indicates they had new procedures in place and a brand new procedure manual just before 9/11, and were used when a 757 missile hit the defenseless building. I heard about a guy who was supposed to be reading the manual (see above post?) right when the plane hit.

Anyway, of course it was foreseen. Condi Rice's quote (and others from the WH like it) are some kind of psyop. The PTB actually seem to have gone out of their way to remind us (US Medicine is federal mag) of the fact that they look at these things on every day but 9/11. We were on alert all summer 'til early September, etc. "Bad timing" is the operative idea, of course.

In NORAD drills, plans were drawn up to have a connected series of drills. A scenario where a plane would be flown into the World Trade Center. A scenario where a plane would be flown into the Pentagon. A scenario where a plane would be shot down.
