Discoverychannel and the Pentagon in bed??

Ok, i hope i posted this in the right place now!


About a year ago i was told by a friend that the Discovery Channel is sponserd(*spell) by the Pentagon.
At first i didnt think about it that much but after awhile i started to notice that everytime there is a terroract or a war coming up the programs on Discovery change alot. When the Iraq war was about to start it was shows about US military all the time. To me alot of it could be considered as propaganda!
Of course they will change the the programs if there is something major about to happend.

I wouldnt really belive what he said if it wasnt for the reason that both our government and the American government trust him.


Have anyone else heard about this and have information????

Seriously though.I mentioned a while back that the BBC ran an old series called The World At War(about WW2) during the Christmas holidays.It did seem a strange choice for the festive season but of course the British Gov were trying to persuade the ppl of the need for war.

One thing you have to remember though is that ppl are more interested in these documentaries while fighting is going on.

I'd refer you to the excellent debate in the debate forum between Gazrok and Loki but paraphrase it and ask do these programs encourage war or does war encourage these programs?

Have you not considered the simple fact that as a televison channel their purpose is to attract viewers, and during wartime people will tune in to programs about such material?

Of course i did, thats what i meant. Sorry if i didnt write that down more clearly. Anyway tahts not the intresting part, what i wanted to know was if someone else heard about this?
